The 2024 Nepal Premier League (NPL) (Template:Lang-ne) marks the inaugural edition of an exciting new franchise-based Twenty20 cricket tournament, organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the official governing body of cricket in Nepal. The tournament is set to bring high-octane cricket action from November 30 to December 21, 2024.[1] The tournament will follow a competitive round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs.
History
In 2024, the CAN announced the creation of a franchise-based T20 league, the Nepal Premier League (NPL), scheduled to take place from November to December 2024.[2] On 2 August 2024, CAN issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Franchise Ownership.[3][4] On 19 August 2024, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) unveiled the official logo of the Nepal Premier League. The first season is eagerly anticipated to take place from November 30 to December 21, 2024.
Teams
The Nepal Premier League is expected to feature 6-7 teams, each representing a major city in Nepal. However, as of now, the official list of teams has not been announced, with CAN having only issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) for franchise ownership.
