Stacey Levine was born in St. Louis. However, for many years now she's lived in Seattle, where she is considered an established writer. |

Stacey's first published book, ''My Horse and Other Stories,'' published by Sun & Moon Press, and based on her master's thesis at the University of Washington, received a Pen/West award as well as praise from critics. |
|||
⚫ | |||
Stacey's writing has been noted for its fairy-tale like quality, although few would consider them as conventional fairy tales. For example, some have compared her to Kafka and Jane Bowles. |
|||
⚫ | |||
Also, her writing frequently contains words such as "oh" or "my" to begin or end a phrase, or to fill up awkward silences. In addition, her characters frequently make small gestures towards each other, which befuddle them. |
|||
Stacey's other books include ''DRA--'', a novel about looking for employment and ''Frances Johnson,'' a novel as well, this one about small town romances. This later novel, published by Clear Cut Press in Oregon, has made people curious about Stacey Levine. |
|||
However, Levine had already read and performed numerous times in Seattle and elsewhere, although after ''Frances'' was published, in Seattle she was commisioned to read a story at the annual Inquiry event, where she suprised everyone by having a woman jump on stage and push her out of the way so could madly dance. |
|||
Stacey has also appeared on Bookworm and claims to be writing another novel as well as a book of stories. |

Yamaha Big Bear 400
The Yamaha Big Bear atv is a 386cc four wheeler with independent rear suspension and four wheel drive. It's list of features includes front differential lock, full floor boards and an analog speddometer.
This makes the 2007 Big Bear one of, if not THE most feature-equiped five speed ATVs still produced.
The Big Bear has changed quite a lot over the years. And especially a lot over the 2006 model. Big Bears of yore were full-time four-wheel drive (an almost unheard of drive system today-- Honda got rid of this system for their 2007 Ranchers) without the luxury of full floorboards or speedometer or differential lock. The biggest difference, though, between the older Big Bears and the Big Bear of today is the addition of IRS (independent rear suspension) which gives the Big Bear 10.5 inches of ground clearence and allows the tires to gain traction independently or at angles unlike a straight axle ATV. This is especially helpful in the deep "skidder" ruts and mud holes of the American South.
Yamaha also states that the Big Bear's seat is 40mm more padded for 2007.
Yamaha's market research showed that 25% of all ATVs sold in America were still five speeds (as opposed to Automatics), and that 50% of that 25% were Southern consumers. Yamaha then redesigned the Big Bear for 2007 to reach this specific consumer.
That "Southern" consumer most notably rides in deep mud and water, so Yamaha added the IRS, in-out four-wheel drive, and locking front differential to accomodate the harsh and sticky terrain. Also added was a fully encased rear "wet brake" system that was described by an industry journalist as working like a clutch (multiple plates encased in oil) but backwards. Wheras you RELEASE a clutch to bring the plates together, the Big Bear's brake is PULLED to bring the plates (connected to the axels) together, thus stopping the ATV. This system is supposedly "maintenance free," though the 2007 model has not been out long enough to prove this true.
It is available in Red, Green, Blue, and camo.
An extra feature Yamaha added to the 2007 Big Bear (another nod to the mud-centric consumers it is made for) is the addition of Mud Lite tires. The Mud Lite is the best selling aftermarket tire in America due to its agressive tread pattern and light weight.
The Big Bear has a very low-geared transmission, offering an ultra-low first gear in place of a high/low range. It doesn't make the 400 the fastest thing on the road, but it does make it a real stump-puller.
All of these features come together to make a strong, torquey, go-anywhere ATV.

Emergency Care Practitioner
The Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) scheme is part of a wider healthcare scheme within the United Kingdom to produce advanced practitioners in a number of clinical areas. Members of the public may be familiar with Emergency Nurse Practitioners who often perform initial triage within an Accident and Emergency department.
Emergency Care Practitioners are usually Paramedics or Nurses who have undergone further training to enable them to perform a more varied role within primary care.
The British Paramedic Association describes an ECP thusly:
"An Advanced Paramedic Practitioner will have a detailed understanding of a complex body of knowledge, some of which will be at the current boundaries of paramedic practice through level 6/7 academic education supported by the employing organisation in collaboration with their Highter education institute partners.
They will be able to thoroughly examine and assess patients’ acute and chronic conditions and will be able to record and evaluate an individual’s full medical, social and familial history.
With their advanced knowledge and skills they will be able to suggest and instigate a care plan that may be an alternative to the traditional route of hospital admission, where that is inappropriate, and therefore best suits patients’ needs. Being able to critically review evidence, arguments and assumptions, they will be in a position to advise patients and care teams on health care issues, health promotion and injury prevention, and be able to reach sound clinical decisions and develop care plans with a greater degree of independence.
They will also have the advantage of being able to prescribe medicines beyond those available to other level II/III practitioners on the paramedic pathway.
Through reflection, mentorship, preceptorship and review, they will be able to continually evaluate their own performance and recognise their personal strengths and areas for development, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning. They will also be able to evaluate the performance of others by embracing the role of supervisor, mentor and preceptor."
Emergency Care Practioner schemes are now running all over the United Kingdom and the scope of practice of the ECPs in each area vary greatly. Currently ECPs can perform the clinical skills listed below (these vary by employing trust):
- catheterisation
- intubation
- cannulation
- wound closure (suturing, steri-strips, glue)
- assessment using medical model
- prescribe antibiotics
- arrange X-rays
- arrange other healthcare intervention (occupational health, physiotherapy, speech therapy, podiatry)
- refer directly to hospital doctors
- administer controlled drugs/POMs

PAUL CASTRO
Paul Castro is a dynamic and innovative American screenwriter born in Bronx New York and one of six kids. While still a graduate student at the UCLA’s famed School of Film, Television and Digital Media, Paul earned a three picture, seven-figure screenwriting deal (March 7, 2000 Daily Variety). He directed award winning short films, two music videos for RCA Records and won The Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s Award for directing and producing his original screenplay HEALING. Paul Castro’s original screenplay AUGUST RUSH (New York Times.com) has been shot and is slated for a worldwide studio release this year by Warner Brothers (IMDB.com). “Rush” stars Robin Williams (GOOD WILL HUNTING), Keri Russell (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III), Freddie Highmore (FINDING NEVER LAND, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM). Oscar winner, Kirsten Sheridan (IN AMERICA) directs AUGUST RUSH and serial Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer scores the movie. Legendary film actress and Academy Award winner, Shirley MacLaine (TERMS OF ENDEARMENT) was quoted declaring, “Paul (Castro) is simply among the most talented writers I’ve worked closely with. You’re going to begin seeing spectacular scripts making it to the screen written by this kid.” ICE, a Paul Castro original screenplay, a drama about an angry nun who mentors a white ghetto kid under house arrest, will star Ms. MacLaine and is slated to begin shooting later this year. Paul Castro is in pre-production currently writing a compelling script for veteran producers Silvio Sardi and Donald Ranvaud (CITY OF GOD) called SPEED KILLS (IMDB.com), a true story about iconic speedboat king, Don Aronow and his tragic death. Aronow ran in the fast lane with the world’s most renowned shape-shifters. He was revered as an innovator and one of the most celebrated visionaries of his time. Coincidentally, Paul Castro and Don Aronow share similar March birthdays.

Robert J. Beam Jr.
Robert Beam has designed many albums for the recording label Thirsty Ear Recordings. Some of these albums are, At The Center, by Meat Beat Manifesto, Negrophilia, by Mike Ladd, and Balladware, by David S. Ware.
Robert Beam is also a visual artist, having contributed paintings for many NEST organized events, and in some cases has even crafted flyers for these events. Some of his painting can be found at The Green Room , in Bridgeport CT.
In December of 2006, 9 pieces of his artwork were stolen from the Voodoo Lounge on Avenue A in New York City, and have since never resurfaced.
Music:
He is a member of the two-person consortium, THE INTERNATIONAL MEAT, along with original co-member T. Emmerson. The band plays extremely rarely, appearing at times without notice or fanfare, and leaving before objects can be lobbed at them. Their music can be described as "black fuzzy yogurt" (prior to the coinage of this phrase, this has not been recognized as an understood musical genre)
Associations:
Beam has been known to frequent the Nest Arts Factory, reasoning that if he was going to have to drink beer, it might as well be with people he liked. The Nest is located on Hancock Street in Bridgeport. The famous promoter/video artist Dan Ucer, of the United Corporate Entities of Romstar, has been a major supporter of Beam's work, and has offered the opportunity on many occasions to show it.
Jewelry:
Robert Beam has never been known to be one to wear jewelry, but has plans in '08 to get a set of grills.
Nick Names:
"Lord Pim", "Bobby Maroon", "Jim Aiken Brown" & "nu-fast, the automatic freek" have all been used as nicknames for Robert Beam.
Influences:
There is a strong Science Fiction Fantasy aspect to much of Robert beams visual Art. many depictions contain women, heavy metal "hobbits" and a cartoonish character referred to as Monitor Man, that appears to have a vid screen for a head. Another recurrent theme concerns mechanical prosthesis and bionics.
Powers:
Robert beam can tell the future within about 30 seconds before it happens. He also seems to know when to leave a party prior to when something will be sure to happen that causes injury. He is also a gifted yo-yo-ist, but still has not mastered the cat's cradle trick
