Chomsky referenced the forthcoming book in a September 1992 article[2] and gave the fourth Raymond Williams Memorial Lecture lecture in London in November 1992 on the topic "Year 501".[3] First published in English (1993), translated into Spanish (1993)[4], German (1993) [5], Portuguese (1993)[6], Greek (1994)[7], Italian (1994)[8], French (1995), Arabic (1996) [9], Serbian (1998)[10], Polish (1999)[11], Korean (2007)[12]. Republished in Spanish (2003), French (2007). A new edition with a new preface was publish in English in 2015 by Haymarket Books and Pluto Press.
