Pepper spray incident
[edit]@ElNuevoEinstein: For one, menacing is a crime. But also, we should not be making additions like this to the article that are solely based on Cantwell's statements and videos or other primary sources. While Cantwell's own words can be used to verify basic biographical information (for example, in the "Life" section, though many of these are actually published in secondary RS), we should not be using them to report on events that haven't been described in secondary RS. If secondary sources don't think Cantwell showing up on someone's porch is noteworthy, we should not be including it. GorillaWarfare (talk) 01:14, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- @GorillaWarfare: I think part of our duty here is to expose to as broad an audience as possible the personality of Christopher Cantwell. Maybe it should be mentioned in the Life section though rather than under Criminal Charges and Convictions, since no charges were filed. ElNuevoEinstein (talk) 17:41, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- That is absolutely not our duty. Our duty is to represent fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic. Please remember that WP:BLP applies to talk pages as well—you may wish to redact your insult. If you want to start a blog to expose Cantwell's flaws, be my guest, but don't use Wikipedia for it. Appeal
[edit]Is there a way of finding out whether or not Cantwell's attorneys have followed through on their announcement to file an appeal? --ElNuevoEinstein (talk) 15:50, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- I assume there's a way to look up actual court filings, though I don't know how. I haven't seen any reporting on it since the mid-March report (and others like) it announcing they would appeal, though. GorillaWarfare (talk) 16:53, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- CourtListener says nothing about an appeal[1], but maybe I'm looking at the wrong place. Do the appeals get filed under a different docket number? ElNuevoEinstein (talk) 21:13, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- No clue. GorillaWarfare (talk) 22:05, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- It seems that something happened with regards to the appeal, but my knowledge of legalese is too bad to understand. Also, most of the documents seem to be behind a paywall: [2] ElNuevoEinstein (talk) 08:22, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Im confused, the article says he was sentenced for years in jail but now he is out after circa 1 year served?
[edit]wait how does that work? can someone explain. 85.24.186.196 (talk) 11:07, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
