Uxie (ユクシー, Yukushī, Yuxie in original Japanese language versions) is one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Uxie is a legendary Pokémon that premiers in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Uxie in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

The name Uxie derives from the Japanese word for knowledge (智識, chishiki) and the English word pixie. it could also possibly go along with Mesprit with it's name (Uxie and Mesprit, respectively.)

Biological characteristics

Uxie has a small blue body about the size of Mew. It has a yellow and round head with a jewel encrusted in its forehead, and in its Sugimori art it appears to be sleeping, or closing its eyes in deep thought. Uxie also resembles a religious monk. It should be noted that its head resembles a human brain, being that it is the Knowledge Pokémon. Like Mesprit and Azelf, its partners in the legendary trio, it has two tails with jewels encrusted on them, and the only major difference between them is its head and its face.

Uxie is referred to as the "god of knowledge". It is said that the wisdom that enriches the lives of humans was brought with the birth of Uxie. It also possesses the ability to erase the memories of a person who lays eyes on it. Uxie could be "the wisest and most calm" of the mystic trio because while in battle, it focuses on strategies rather than running away or attacking wildly. This may be how it got its defensive powers.[3]

In the video games

Uxie is one of the legendary Pokemon in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It is part of a Psychic-type trio along with Mesprit and Azelf. All three of them are captured by Team Galactic and are freed by the protagonist. They attempt to stop Dialga or Palkia from overwhelming Sinnoh later in the game.

After defeating Dialga or Palkia, Uxie flees to Wisdom Lake, where it can be captured. It is at level 50, like Mesprit and Azelf.

Among the three, Uxie has the highest Defense and Special Defense.
