Ian Watkins (Lostprophets singer)

Template:Infobox musical artist 2 Ian Watkins (born in Pontypridd, Wales on July 30 1977) is the lead singer, and also one of the founding members, of the Welsh alternative metal band Lostprophets. Ian is straight edge, along with band mates Lee Gaze and Mike Lewis. His mother was a stay-at-home-mum and his stepfather a Baptist minister.

He was originally a drummer in seminal hardcore band called Public Disturbance along with current Lostprophets guitarist Mike Lewis. He was also a drummer in a number of other bands. He attended Hawthorne High along with every other member of the band.

He has so far recorded three albums with the band, thefakesoundofprogress, Start Something and Liberation Transmission. Ian also has said that he prefers drumming to singing, but when Lostprophets first started out, there was no one to be a vocalist, so he took on the job. The reason for his affinity for drumming may be because he started playing at only 14.
