Curtis S.S.K.[1] [2] is the third studio album by rapper 50 Cent.[3] It is set to be released on June 25 2007 for the United Kingdom and June 26 2007 for the United States.
Initially, 50 Cent told MTV that he wanted to name the album Before I Self Destruct because "it could potentially happen".[4] However, he decided to change the album's title to Curtis S.S.K. instead. It has been reported that he wants to save the initial title (Before I Self Destruct) for his final album on Interscope Records (excluding a possible greatest hits album).[5]
On January 4 2007, while on The Howard Stern Show, 50 Cent said the album was "80% done".[6] G-Unit's DJ Whoo Kid suggested that it may be a two-disc album; the first being "club-banging ridiculous" and the second being "hardcore killer shit".[7] 50 Cent confirmed that the album will be just as aggressive as his previous albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre.[7] 50 Cent stated that this will be G-Unit's year.[8]
Artists that are likely to appear on the album will be G-Unit members (Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and Young Buck), as well as other artists signed to G-Unit Records (such as Young Hot Rod, Mobb Deep, or M.O.P.). Other artists likely to be on the album will be from the Shady/Aftermath roster, such as Eminem, Stat Quo, Ca$his, Bishop Lamont, or Busta Rhymes.
Robin Thicke confirmed that he will be a part of the album.[9] Justin Timberlake will also be featured as it has been reported that he recorded a track together with 50 Cent for the album.[10] Akon has confirmed in a Rolling Stone interview that he worked with 50 Cent for the Curtis S.S.K. album.[11] Eminem has also stated that he recorded three tracks for the album.[citation needed]
In an interview with MTV, producer Jonathan Rotem discussed working with 50 Cent on the new album. Rotem said that 50 Cent was definitely into "soulful stuff".[12]
A song called "Revealed" featuring Justin Timberlake was confirmed as being on the album in a recent interview with Timberlake.[10]
While on Tim Westwood's show on BBC Radio 1 1Xtra[13], 50 Cent confirmed that four singles with videos will be released before the release date: "Straight to the Bank", "Come & Go", "Amusement Park", and "Follow My Lead". He also confirmed that the album would have eighteen tracks. He said that "Straight to the Bank" is the only track about money.[14]
