The aim of this project is to standardize and improve articles related to heavy metal music and its sub-genres, as well as to create missing articles. Please add tasks needing to be done in the appropriate section, and remove them accordingly when they are done.

Assessment

One of the main tasks of the Metal WikiProject is to assess the quality of Wikipedia's Metal articles. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to help in recognising excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work. They also play a role in the WP:1.0 program, which the WikiProject uses to help automate some of the assessing process.

It is easiest if you simply tag and assess articles as you come across or edit them. To find out more, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Metal/Assessment.

Album articles

Song articles

Discographies

  • Metalhead, an article that probably concerns most people in this WikiProject, but has been in need of a cleanup since April 2006.

Articles that need to be revamped

Genre articles

  • Black metal (yeah... why did it get nerfed and left with 2 madeup genres?)
  • Death metal
  • Doom metal (Article needs reorganising, expanding, and citations)
  • Speed metal (needs discussion and then appropriate rewrite; poll also needs to finish)

Band articles

  • Celtic Frost
  • Dead Brain Cells
  • Judas Priest
  • Mastodon (Too bland, band has expanded, also personal bios need to be added)
  • Quiet Riot
  • Vader (has been tagged)
  • Summoning (still shows signs of copy-and-paste work from the band's website, grammar issues)
  • Beyond Dawn (need a more comprehensive biography - I've done the best I can with it so far)
  • Saturnus (The current article is clearly no more than a press release for the latest album.)
  • Visceral Bleeding (needs correct citations and to be expanded more, I've tried the best I could cleaning it up)

Deletion

(Please list heavy metal related topics which are being considered for deletion here. Results of recently closed debates can be left up.)

Undeletion

Mergers

Note that there is currently a debate about whether this article should be kept, merged or re-nominated for deletion. All invited to check out the article and pass opinion in the talk page.
  • Funk Metal and Funk rock. There is too much overlap and most articles are primitive stubs with little content.
