Introduction
The necropolis dates back 2,800 years and contains 88 pit tombs and two large grave mounds. It covers an area of 13,000 square metres and is placed near Amorosi, about 48 kilometres notheast of Naples.[1] Its style belongs to the culture of Campania before the arrival of Samnities and the archeological evidence concerns a funerary area, attested between the final stages of the Iron Age and the period of advanced orientalisation.[2]

History

Discovery
The site was discovered in Spring, 2024 during excavations for the construction of an electricity power station linked to a high-speed train line. The discovery was announced to the press in April 2024 by the local cultural heritage authority. In the announcement, it was described by Amorosi Mayor Carmine Cacchillo as "of decisive importance for the history of our culture" [3]
