Kai (singer) → Kai (South Korean singer) – There is also a Canadian singer called Kai now reflected at Kai (Canadian singer) Neither is more prominent than the other. Kai (singer) to serve as a redirect to Kai disambiguation. werldwayd (talk) 11:34, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

– "birth year" not needed per WP:PTOPIC! This discussion like Thriller-type RM. -St3095 (?) 04:41, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nom. – DarkGlow (contribs • talk) 16:58, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose These disambiguators are unnecessarily confusing, both are entertainers and both are musicians. – Thjarkur (talk) 17:09, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose; I agree with the user above. Musician and entertainer could easily refer to either of them so it's not really disambiguating anything and distinguising between the two. Alex (talk) 17:22, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose I agree that Kai (musician, born 1981) should be renamed. From WP:BANDDAB: Use "(musician)" when the person is known for their work in other musical fields, like writing songs or producing music for other artists. This does not appear to be the case for Kai (1981), whose article only mentions singing, radio DJ, actor, and reality competition judge. So Kai (entertainer, born 1981) probably. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 17:34, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose more evidence that the Michael Jackson album ought to follow en.wp rules. All this constant disruption to save "(Michael Jackson album)" appearing on a Michael Jackson album? Why are we making this album an exception that disrupts the entire project? In ictu oculi (talk) 18:32, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose also note that there is Kai (Canadian singer) so I don't see enough of a case for a PDAB[[1]]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:38, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
Merger proposal
- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- Not moved. This is not a merge proposal but a requested move identical to the one above. That one resulted in a very clear consensus against the move, which the opinions expressed in this discussion agree with. Lennart97 (talk) 13:49, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
I propose to merge Kai (entertainer, born 1994) into Kai (entertainer) and Kai (musician, born 1981) into Kai (musician). Birth year not needed in these titles of two articles. -St3095 (?) 05:42, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per the discussion closed less than a week ago.
- I would have !voted oppose in that discussion. That and this proposal are guaranteed ways to accumulate bad links, which give readers wrong information and degrade the encyclopedia. Narky Blert (talk) 09:01, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Several changes needed
- New World was a show on Netflix, so it should be under "television" not "web show"
- He became a model for beauty brand Charmzone in 2022
- In 2022, he became a model for the health and beauty chain Olive Young alongside Hwasa
- Under music videos, he has a guest appearance in Girls Generation-TTS Twinkle
- Under collaborations, add Hot & Cold from the 2022 Winter Palace SMTOWN : SMCU Palace album
- "Kai has been selected as the first Gucci Eyewear Men Global Ambassador in Korea." this line can be deleted as his Gucci ambassadorship is already mentioned under "Entertainments"
- "Entertainments" should be relabelled commercials, endorsements or brand ambassadorships because that section has nothing to do with entertainment Exokaifan (talk) 18:00, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Exokaifan Netflix like any other OTTs are streaming media/service on web therefore it is correct that "New World" which is a Netflix show is under a web show. About Charmzone I would agree as you provide a reliable source and also about Olive Young but provide a reliable source. We don't list guest appearances on filmographies. Provide also a reliable source about "Hot & Cold". I will or other experienced editors to edit the content about "..Gucci Eyewear Men Global Ambassador.." and the last part about Entertainment section. ♒️ 98TIGERIUS 🐯 01:39, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

The personal life section: On May 3, 2023, SM Entertainment announced through Exo's official fan club that Kai would have fulfill his military mandatory service as a social service worker on May 11.
should have a "would have to fulfill" as it is grammatically incorrect otherwise 97.115.34.122 (talk) 16:07, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
Hatnotes
@RachelTensions Can you elaborate why hatnotes are unnecessary in this article? 𝙹𝚒𝚢𝚊𝚗 忌炎 (𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔) 22:49, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sure. WP:NOHAT: when the article name is not ambiguous a hatnote is not needed. "Kai (entertainer, born 1994)" is an unambiguous article title because we've added disambiguators to it.
A reader who is following links within Wikipedia is unlikely to end up at Water (wuxing) if they were looking for other meanings of water, since water does not redirect there.
In this context, a reader who is following links within Wikipedia is unlikely to end up at "Kai (entertainer, born 1994)" when they're actually looking for "Kai (singer, born 1981)" (or one of the other Kais). It'd be different if one was at "Kai (entertainer)" or "Kai (singer)" because those would be ambiguous with other articles, but we've got a double disambiguator on these so they are very unambiguous. RachelTensions (talk) 22:57, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
Disambiguators
Noticed this a few weeks ago and meant to bring it up... we have multiple "Kai" singers that use inconsistent disambiguators... some use nationality, some use year of birth. According to WP:CONSISTENT, they should all use the same disambiguator. Hoping we can workshop together to determine what would be the most ideal options and then proceed with a full RM once we've worked things out.
Right now:
- Kai (Canadian singer) - a singer
- Kai (musician, born 1993) - a singer, producer, guitarist, etc. - fitting of the disambiguator "musician"
- Kai (singer, born 1981) - a singer with a fairly extensive musical theatre background as an actor, probably fits "entertainer" more than just "singer".
- Kai (entertainer, born 1994) - a singer who has acted in a few roles but would be primarily notable as a singer
Some notes:
- Per WP:NCPDAB, "years of birth and death are not normally used as disambiguators, as readers are more likely to be seeking this information than to already know it." But, we might have to.
- Per WP:SINGERDAB, an RFC has established consensus that "
"(entertainer)" "should be restricted to cases where a subject's notability across different areas of entertainment is roughly the same".
Some options:
Option 1 - get rid of years of birth entirely (probably not ideal because the two South Korean Kais would still be ambiguous, but if a hatnote stops us from having to complicate things further then so be it):
- Kai (Canadian singer) → stay as is
- Kai (musician, born 1993) → Kai (Japanese musician)
- Kai (singer, born 1981) → Kai (South Korean entertainer)
- Kai (entertainer, born 1994) → Kai (South Korean singer)
Option 2 - use years of birth for everyone (again probably not ideal per WP:NCPDAB, but might be the cleanest way to do it)
- Kai (Canadian singer) → Kai (singer, born 1990)
- Kai (musician, born 1993) → stay as is
- Kai (singer, born 1981) → Kai (entertainer, born 1981)
- Kai (entertainer, born 1994) → Kai (singer, born 1994)
Option 3 - get rid of years of birth except for the two South Korean Kais:
- Kai (Canadian singer) → stay as is
- Kai (musician, born 1993) → Kai (Japanese musician)
- Kai (singer, born 1981) → Kai (South Korean entertainer, born 1981)
- Kai (entertainer, born 1994) → Kai (South Korean singer, born 1994)
Option 4 - least amount of moves:
- Kai (Canadian singer) → Kai (singer, born 1990)
- Kai (musician, born 1993) → stay as is
- Kai (singer, born 1981) → stay as is
- Kai (entertainer, born 1994) → stay as is
I'm open to other suggestions as long as we can get the four articles to some sort of consistent naming convention.

- Think 3 is the best of those options; the South Korean ones are both singers so not including birth year would be confusing seefooddiet (talk) 23:49, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
