===Reception and controversy===
"Shu-Peru" received mixed reception from fans and critics. While some praised the track's high-energy Afrobeat sound, catchy lyrics, and Kizz Daniel's signature smooth vocals, others criticized it for its simplistic and repetitive chorus. The phrase "shuperu," which was originally popularized by [[Orezi]] in his 2014 song of the same name, led to accusations of unoriginality and sparked debates about the creativity behind the song's title and lyrics. On social media, some listeners expressed disappointment in what they perceived as a decline in Kizz Daniel's lyrical depth, contrasting it with his earlier works like "Sin City" and "Laye". Others humorously criticized the track's simplicity, calling for greater versatility in his music. Despite the backlash, the song also had its defenders, who argued that it was intended to be a lighthearted, fun dance track rather than a lyrically complex piece. Supporters pointed out that similar themes and simplicity are common in Afrobeat hits. Some speculate that Kizz Daniel may address the criticism in the future.<ref>{{cite web|author=Nwaokolo, Sandra|title=Shu Peru: ‘Omo na confirm rubbish’, reactions trail Kiss Daniel’s new song on Twitter|url=https://tribuneonlineng.com/shu-peru-omo-na-confirm-rubbish-reactions-trail-kiss-daniels-new-song-on-twitter/|website=[[Nigerian Tribune]]|accessdate=24 November 2024|date=12 May 2023}}</ref>
