Nicholas Ashe Bateman is an artist[1], filmmaker[2] and the founder of the award-winning visual effects, design and animation company ‘MAERE STUDIOS[3][4].’ As a writer/director, his acclaimed debut feature film - the microbudget ‘The Wanting Mare’ was released in 2021[5][6][7][8][9][10]. He directed and animated the music video for Father John Misty's 'Funny Girl.'[11] As the visual effects supervisor for Maere Studios[3], he has supervised and designed for over 25 feature films in the past years[12], including A24’s ‘The Green Knight,[13][14]’ Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus 2,[15]’ ‘Peter Pan & Wendy,[16]’ M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Knock at the Cabin[17]’ and Ava Duvernay’s ‘Origin.’ [18][3]

Bateman was the creative design supervisor[19] and vfx supervisor[19] for the Disney+ animated short "An Almost Christmas Story" [20], as well as overseeing the work by Maere Studios[19].
