Garrett Michael Huffman (born November 17, 2003) is an American country music singer-songwriter from Gastonia, North Carolina signed to Iron Gate Records. [1]

Background

Garrett played basketball from the age of 6 throughout recreation leagues, school, and AAU tournaments with the dreams of one day playing for college team one day. In February 2020, while in 10th grade, his team won their first JV Basketball State championship with Cramerton Christian School, a buzzer beater game winning shot by a pass from Garrett to his teammate. Then Covid hit and changed the trajectory of Garrett's life tremendously.[2]

Due to Covid, Garrett moved to Gaston Christian School for his last 2 years of high school, where he joined the cross-country team and started playing in the praise band his junior year. In his Junior year, he was able to help his team win their first ever cross-country state championship. He started playing guitar and singing his junior year. The first change was switching schools. This was done due to the school not allowing him to take a specific college class in place of a high school math class due to the decision of the principal and school board. This was definitely the best thing that could have happened in Garrett's life. Garrett then tried out for the basketball team in

  • Covid hit and while in quarantine, taught himself how to play guitar by watching youtube videos
  • Junior year, started at Gaston Christian – became involved with the music program and praise team.  He made the basketball team but decided to focus on music and still participate in Cross Country.  That year he helped with winning the Cross Country State Championship
  • Garrett won the Gaston Christian Got Talent Competition[3]
