Phiona Nyamutoro is a Ugandan politician and legislator representing the Youth in the parliament of Uganda, she is the National female youth Member of parliament in the parliament of Uganda. She is a staunch member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) on whose ticket she got to parliament.[1][2][3][4][5][6] She is also the current Minister of state for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, to which she was appointed on 22 March 2024.[7][8][9]

Background and education

Nyamutoro holds a first class degree in Arts (Luganda, Sociology) and a master's degree in public administration from Makerere university.[10] She went to Najjera progressive school for her primary school education, Misanvu SS in Kibinge Bukomansimbi district for O'level and Maleku Secondary school for A'level.[10]

Career

Nyamutoro was a vice guild president while at Makerere University 2015 -2016.

She was also a member of the National Youth council representing Nebbi district. Nyamutoro is the first National youth Member of Parliament hailing from Nebbi district.[1][2][11]

Nyamutoro is also a champion of anti pregnancy and Gender issues.[10][12]

In the 11th parliament, she is a member of the committee on education and sports.[13]

She was appointed Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development as part of the cabinet reshuffle by President Museveni[14][15]

Personal life

She got engaged to Eddy Kenzo on Saturday 29th June 2024 at a private traditional ceremony. The couple has a child.[16][17]
