== Rush Limbaugh | Show merge ==

thanks for the welcome --

may I ask why you think that the page on Rush Limbaugh and content from The Rush Limbaugh Show page should be merged?
a user took the initiative to separate the two because Limbaugh has past media affiliations and other biographical information that need not be mentioned in the context of the show, and vice versa.
also, by the time Rush decides to move on to different things he will most assuredly be replaced by someone else - likely Roger Hedgecock, only the show will probably retain its name.

Soaps

The soap actor articles aren't for every person who ever appeared on one, but for people who are either currently on one, or were on one for at least three years, so they could have sufficient notability in the show itself and in their careers. Mike H 10:25, Feb 20, 2005 (UTC)

Images

I was unaware Wikipedia had any requirements for display resolution. In fact most of the articles I've seen and worked with were designed with 1024x768 as seen from most of the tables that take up half the page (in 800) and galleries that make you scroll. I'll investigate this to see if there is actually a rule of thumb here. I don't believe there is K1Bond007 00:55, Mar 7, 2005 (UTC)

I see your point, but I don't think Wikipedia has any requirements nor should have any requirements. That said, it doesn't matter. I found a work around. In 1024 it looks the same as it did before. In 800 it wraps thus not forcing the person to scroll. K1Bond007 01:50, Mar 7, 2005 (UTC)

The one I found uses a template...

Although some quotes on the films are relevant (Bond. James Bond) etc, quotes are usually left to Wikipedia's sister site Wikiquote The site I just linked will take you directly to the article on Wikiquote for the James Bond series. Instead of listing the quotes here what we should do is move whatever isn't a duplicate there and link to it. Wikipedia uses a template for this (example Terminator 2: Judgment Day at the bottom). Just FYI. This should be linked to every Bond film and the James Bond article itself. It's just something we haven't gotten around to do yet. K1Bond007 04:34, Mar 7, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your additions to the various James Bond film articles. But please be careful not to simply cut-and-paste items from IMDb or change just a word or two. I recognized the trivia item re:Claude Renoir you added for Spy Who Loved Me instantly because I wrote the original for the IMDb. Likewise, Broccoli's dream trivia item from Diamonds was also too similar to what had been written in the IMDb. I'm double checking your other additions now. Even if you wrote an original trivia item for IMDb yourself, that site holds copyright on anything posted there, so it needs to be reworded for use here. If the copyvio police at Wikipedia notice the similarities, they slap an ugly copyvio notice on the article that hangs around for weeks and also puts the entire article in danger of deletion. Thanks. 23skidoo 17:29, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Soap article policy proposal

Since you edit soap articles, I figure you might be interested in the policy proposal I've brought up on the talk page for the Soap WikiProject. If you haven't done so yet, be sure to sign your name on the regular page, noting that you support the work in such a project. Mike H 07:45, Mar 9, 2005 (UTC)

NFL articles

Just wanted to tell you that I'm very impressed at the great work you've been doing on NFL articles. I especially like the Superbowl infobox. Also, one quick questions: Is there a good online source for game summaries of NFL playoff games? Thanks! Carbonite 22:36, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

"Mainland China" vs "PRC"

Hello. Thanks for sharing your opinion at WP:CFD. But I am afraid in any case if you're well-informed with the situation when you cast your vote I would recommend you to reconsider. — Instantnood 16:51, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. IMHO, If it is under dispute it should not be deleted, but hold. — Instantnood 14:46, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks Zzyzx11. You can join the discussion at the naming conventions talk page at any time. :-D — Instantnood 05:48, Mar 26, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your vote just now (though strictly past the deadline). --Henrygb 02:04, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks from me too; I appreciate your vote, and will endeavor to maintain high standards in the job. Now every time I pass Zzyzx road I'll think of someone I met on Wikipedia! Best wishes, Antandrus 00:36, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Re: Criteria for speedy deletion

Thanks for the link to the discussion. The reason came from a revert of Wetman's notice. On review, the article does look more like a sub-stub ... --Zigger 19:12, 2005 Apr 9 (UTC)

Template:JB character

You probably won't follow up on the discussion that you started on User:67.171.180.209 so I just wanted to let you know that I reverted that "second" template that User:67.171.180.209 made and am planning to add that to TFD (templates for deletion) since it's a fork of a previously made one. If you guys want to change the design of the present one, go ahead, but Wikipedia doesn't need two exact templates. K1Bond007 06:15, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

Liberty Belle VFD

Given that the article is now about the pre-existing DC Comics character who was referenced in an episode of Powerpuff Girls instead of just the reference itself, can I convince you to change your vote? DS 21:02, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

UnitedforumUsers

I noticed your welcome to UnitedforumUsers-- does that mean he's yours to look after? I ask because you might want to have a look at his article Ufu. I would just mark it for deletion, but is there an implied threat here? Mwanner 00:13, Apr 13, 2005 (UTC)

Nice meeting you too!

Thank you for editing my page. it was awful wasn't it?

Apologies and Cries for Help

Sorry about that; it's just that I have an eye for errors in grammar and spelling. Do you know of any pages deluged in errors of this type? Thanks. -HurriSbezu

Administratorship

Thanks for your comments on Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Wilfried Derksen. Your comment made me aware of the necesity of filling in the Edit Summary line in case of non minor edits. It made ma also ware of careful labeling an edit as minor or non minor. I will change my way of editing pages by clearly selecting minor and non minor edits and to fill in an edit summary in the last case. With this comment I would like to ask you to reconsider your vote. Wilfried Derksen = Electionworld 16:28, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, I did a google test for "Micropolis corporation", and lots of results were relfected, but I only used one of them, that webpage with some info said that it went out of business in 1997 plus it isn't that big of a company to have its own article.--TheSamurai 20:31, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, If a company specializes on primarily 1 thing resulting in focusing over 90% of their attention on it, a redirect might be prudent.

Micropolis corporation was obviously mentioned on Hard disk; I read alot of computer-related articles, and Hard disk is the only article with Micropolis mentioned on it. Since it was famous enough to be mentioned on hard disk; redirecting it was probably the prudent thing to do.

Reply to F&H

Well, Fraud and Hoax are mentioned in each others' articles. In the fraud article, they say that some frauds are hoaxes. And in the Hoax article, they say that alot of hoaxes are fraudulent. Since those 2 words occasionally go together, I think an article about the 2 together would be prudent. --TheSamurai 23:36, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I am going against speedy deletion, so read this!

Well, we could merge content from google results for "fraudulent hoax", but we could test this term on Yahoo!, and others besides google to find results Google can't find.

why? please explain. --Duk 01:01, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

How to make a Self Page

How do I make a page about myself for my profile? I'd just like something that Can let people get ahold of me if they so need. any help? Bakudai 18:02, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

High-tech lynching

I noticed you created this redirect just before you decided to make your comments about me on VFD. But don't worry, I'm currently working on expanding that article to make it a reasonable one. Zzyzx11 | Talk 01:08, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Fine by me. The phrase is well-known enough in the American political lexicon that it deserves a full-fledged article. I didn't create this link for the purpose of attacking you, but rather because the situation brought the phrase to mind, I did a search, and since there was nothing there I redirected it to the article of the individual it was most closely associated with. LevelCheck 01:13, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No need for apology

There's no need for apology. "Fanning the flames" can only serve to resolve this dispute more quickly by getting more people's attention; perhaps we'll get the attention of someone that can show that SuperDude is Samurai's sockpuppet, etc. Frankly, I'm at a loss to explain LevelCheck's nomination and subsequent involvement in all this. androidtalk 02:07, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

  • Zzyzx, you're probably the last person that needs to apologize for any of this. I continue to smell rodents...and you're certainly not one of them. Thanks for filling me in on that VfD. I've voted accordingly based on the content and not the author. - Lucky 6.9 03:03, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Thanks, pal. You're a class act. - Lucky 6.9 03:15, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Clean-up importance

Hi, I appreciate the work you are doing on cleanup-importance. It's kind of eating up vfd, would you consider putting antything that is less than two sentences and obviously unimportant on speedy, especially if those two sentences contain an external link, that way an admin can seepdy anything obviously dubious, or list it for vfd--nixie 03:36, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

About the Pokemon article

Why should we merge the Pokemon article with the Shed Skin ability. It is a minor part of the francise and I removed the merge tags for that article. –User:Pleasehelp Also, I cannot get the spanish pinta you showed me on my talk page. WikiProject California State Highways

Thanks for the good word! I think it'd be more appropriate to keep the title "California State Highways", since that's the phrase that's generally used anyway and, moreover, "route" is more of a title pertaining to the route in question (much like Mr. or Dr.), while "highway" is much more vague. I hope you help out soon. Bye now! Bennyp81 05:37, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

The Kate Kennedy Club Crest.jpg

Thank you for pointing out that image: The_kate_kennedy_club_crest.jpg did not have a copyright tag, changed it to logo hence it is the club logo. Upload is ok since I am a club member, added not for third party use under picture. Is this ok? new to wikipedia. --Andpersson 09:00, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

You might find {{music-importance}} to be more beneficial in the specific cases of band-related articles, in part because it explicitly links to WP:NMG, allowing editors to know the sort of information that we want to see an article telling us. Uncle G 10:56, 2005 Apr 18 (UTC)

Good morning. Actually, I did not voice an opinion one way or the other about Vicky Botwright's article. I was just trying to give more background information to those deciding to delete it or not. I shall modify my comment on that page, though. —Eoghanacht 11:01, 2005 Apr 18 (UTC)

Thanks, I don't do a lot of welcome wagon greetings, so I can barely remember how to do the {{subst:welcome}} let alone keep track of other messages. I'll try to keep it in mind if the occasion arises again. olderwiser 00:31, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)

SamuraiClinton, part II

Hi, Zzyzx. I've contacted Raul654, a bureaucrat and Burgundavia, an arbitor to get some idea of how to proceed. I find having to do this extremely distasteful. It goes completely against my nature. However, I really tend to get torqued if I feel that my good nature is being turned against me in some way. That's what I believe is happening here. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for all your help. - Lucky 6.9 04:40, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act

It's always a good idea to check the edit history of an article before adding tags to it. This article was only minutes old when you added the wikify tag; the result for me was an edit conflict and the annoyance of copy-paste-resave of work I'd done. No sweat, but hope you'll be a tad more cautious in the future. Denni 01:12, 2005 Apr 21 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Edit conflicts#Prevention. Whenever you are currently working on a big article like that, please tag it with {{inuse}} so you can avoid edit conflicts. Thanks. Zzyzx11 | Talk 01:26, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Regarding my RfA

Hello Zzyzx11. I was promoted to admin today, and I would like to thank you for the time you took to review my contributions. As a result of your comments on the RfA page, I promise to broaden my field of contributions to other sysop chores, articles, and content-related projects (I signed up as a translator on TIE, among other things). I hope you never have to complain about me. Cheers. Phils 20:08, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Reply about Cold heat

All Wikipedia articles are advertisements to a certain degree. This Cold heat article was expanded; it should be kept because it has alot of Yahoo hits and it is a unique product. --SuperDude 05:08, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • It does make sense to merit it into an article. Also, if your brain implodes, just say this on the article's talk page: "This is not an ad, it is an article about a unique device". And also, put a stub template on it. --SuperDude 05:14, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • I like the idea if implementing a Wikipedia cleanup template on the Cold heat article rather than nominating it for deletion or speedying it as an ad. --SuperDude 15:23, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. One thing I was wondering was - how do you post pictures to go with the articles?

Reply about images

The pictures I uploaded were taken and drawn by myself. For example, here is one I photograph I just took: Image:Computer speakers.JPG I took that one because I think the Computer speakers article needed one. Also, I don't really consider images taken by myself as copyrighted ones, I consider them to be copyleft. --SuperDude 05:49, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Aside from reading the tutorials and such, do you have any helpful suggestions?

No, that is quite helpful. I would be very irritated if one my articles were simply deleted for being incomplete or whathaveyou. I will be sure to back everything up.

Thanks again,

Oops, scrap the original, got it figured and have marked the images as {{gfdl}} ... I created the images myself and am adapting an article I wrote for wikipedia - http://www.magicalpath.net/tattva/index.htm . I'm pretty much a GFDL kinda guy, and seldom attach copyright notices to my work, but am happy to allow unlimited use, especially for non-profit use. :)
