Stephen Marley

Stephen Robert Nesta "Raggamuffin" Marley (born April 20, 1972) in Wilmington, Delaware, is a Jamaican musician and the son of reggae legend Bob Marley and Rita Marley.

Musical career

Stephen was part of the reggae group Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers with his siblings Ziggy, Cedella, and Sharon. In 1985 Stephen was featured on a 12" single titled "Jah Is The Healing" (reverse side to "Naah Leggo", a Tuff Gong Jamaican release). His first prominent lead vocal performance was on the track "Lord We A Come" from the 1986 Melody Makers release Hey World. Later tracks featuring Stephen on lead vocal include "A Who A Say," "Problem With My Woman," "Rebel In Disguise," "African Herbsman," "Mama," "Tipsy Dazy," "Bygones," "Keep On," "Postman," "Long Winter," "Five Days A Year," "Notice," "Jah Bless", "All Day All Night," "One Good Spliff," and "High Tide or Low Tide." Many other tracks feature Stephen DJ/Ragga/Rudeboy toasting in support of Ziggy's lead, beginning on the track "Unuh Nuh Listen Yet" from Play the Game Right in 1985.

Stephen produced his brother Damian Marley's three solo albums, most notably 2005's Welcome to Jamrock, where he was featured on the tracks "All Night," "Pimpa's Paradise," "For The Babies," and "Hey Girl." He also produced for brother Julian Marley, and produced and performed on the 1999 Bob Marley mash-up, Chant Down Babylon.

Stephen released the video for Traffic Jam (which also features brothers Damian and Julian) in December, 2006. His debut album 'Mind Control' was released 20th March, 2007. Stephen is a five time Grammy award winner.[1]

On Monday 19th March 2007 Stephen performed alongside his brother Damian at the Jackie Gleason Theater in a concert that was streamed live via *MSN Music.

On April 27, 2007, Stephen performed with his brother Damian at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.

On May 11, 2007, Stephen performed with his brother Damian on Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

Personal Life

Stephen currently lives in Miami, Florida, where he has a home and a recording studio called "Lion's Den." He is confirmed to have at least eight children: sons - Joseph Marley, Stephan Marley, Yohan Marley and Jeremiah Marley; and daughters - Shacia Marley, Mystic Marley, Summer Marley and Zipporah Marley.
