Mariah Carey's eleventh studio album will be released in 2007, according to Universal Music Group chief executive Doug Morris. Morris also has stated that Carey will release two new albums in 2007.[1]
Carey reportedly said she had been writing new songs while traveling on her latest tour.[2] It was reported that Carey is recording her new album and has booked a whole month in Anguilla's biggest villa and had a studio built in it.[3]
Possible/Rumored Collaborations and Producers
Karen Clark-Sheard
Karen Clark-Sheard said in an exclusive interview with Terrell of MiddleChild Promotions:
Well, of course Aretha reached out to us, she has a production that she is coming out with that she wanted us to be a part of. So we're looking to colleborate with her in the future... And also Mariah Carey as well, I'll do something with her in the near future as well.[4]
— Karen Clark-Sheard
Nelly and Janet Jackson
Nelly's got a crazy collaboration he's trying to put together, which is him, Janet and Mariah Carey all on one song. [...] He wants Janet to rap a 16-bar verse, he wants Mariah to sing the hook and he's gonna do two verses.[5]
Bryan Michael Cox
Bryan Michael Cox visited Anguilla and contributed 4 new songs to Carey's upcoming album.[6] In the past, Cox had produced and helped writing songs such as "Don't Forget About Us", "Get Your Number", "Shake It Off", "The One", "Miss You", "How Much" and "All I Want for Christmas Is You (Remix)". He wrote the following on his MySpace page:
So, I move around so much that I don't even know where I live anymore. Then I get a phone call from one of the biggest female recording artists ever to come way to Anguilla and do some writing for her upcoming LP. [...] We wrote 4 songs. 4 SMASHES![7]
— Bryan Michael Cox
Cool & Dre
According to an interview with Mix Tape Kings, Cool, one-half of the hit-making producing duo Cool & Dre, vaguely hints at a possible collaboration with Carey:
But when you got Mariah Carey on your phone asking for a hit, then...[8]
— Cool
Akon
Adam Graham wrote in his column for the Detroit News Online:
From collaborations with Gwen Stefani, Eminem and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to his own solo hits to rumored upcoming collabs with Elton John, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and even the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the smooth-voiced, Senegal-born singer is a ubiquitous force on the pop charts; to wit, he's currently got four songs in Billboard's Top 40.[9]
T.I.
T.I. was interviewed by VIBE to talk about his forthcoming album T.I. vs. T.I.P., movies, and future projects. He revealed that he is one of the producers of one of Carey's upcoming albums.[10]
Scott Storch
According to an interview with MTV, producer Scott Storch is going to work with Mariah Carey.[11]
DJ Toomp
In an M&C article, DJ Toomp has stated to work on a collaboration with Mariah Carey.[12]
Nate "Danja" Hills
On his official My Space page, Nate Danja Hills, who is a protege of Timbaland, stated:
I'm sorry I haven't been around but of course I been grinding!! Me and Ms. Lago in with Ms. Mariah Carey and of course we got somethin stupid!!! [13]
