:You mention good points, buddy. However, i have a different opinion about the La Martiniere picture you removed from the History section. That picture has historical importance and its caption clearly said "Sir Claude Martin's palace..." so you might want to reconsider your stand. — Aksera 16:17, 26 June 2007 (UTC) |

I can't undersatnd why the Demographics section of this article has been named so, because the section discusses about language of Lucknow people. Isn't the demography section supposed to talk about the people of Lucknow, instead of only their language? User:Kazimostak |

: I agree. When I was reading over the same section, I thought it should be revised too. It only deals with the history of language, and thus should be moved to the history section. Parihav 12:56, 19 April 2007 (UTC) |

:I concur. Moon, please don't forget to check out the Manual_of_Style. I have been constantly noticing you struggle with styles decisions. Trust me, the document may seem huge but if you survive to go through it, you will master the styles of English language and learn Wikipedia markup at the same time! - Please add your name in the box above if you plan to actively participate in the To-dos. Let us contribute and make this an A-class, or better rated article. — Aksera 12:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have taken the liberty to move some very old messages to a new Archived messages section at the very end of this page. I propose that messages older than a few months, say six months, be moved to this section for avoiding clutter and ease of accessibility. I would also like to humbly suggest that if your message deserves a new section or sub-section, feel free to create it. Similarly, if your message falls in a section which already exists, please do not hesitate to add your message to that particular section instead of creating a new one. Oh and please sign your messages using wiki's inbuilt markup of four tilde, that is by putting ~~~~ after your message. — Aksera 07:12, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
To do
I plan to extensively copy-edit this article to raise the quality. I ask all you fellow editors to please contribute new content, pictures, or ideas so that Lucknow's charm can be seen in this writing as well. We can use Mumbai and Delhi as our baseline. For a particular section, the tasks should be done in the given order, please do not mix up. Feel free to add more suggestions and mark completed tasks with a strike-through. For instance, <s>Modify Sample section</s>
will yield this Modify Sample section.
To-do list for Lucknow:

Thank you,

Skyline
I have captured a great image for the Lucknow skyline, hope it does better for the article! User:Einstein90
- That is indeed a nice picture. However, I have moved it to the Places to visit sub-section. To be honest, Lucknow does not have a skyline. A skyline is made by skyscrapers and Lucknow doesn't have any. Moreover, in my humble opinion, we can not pass Ambedkar park as the skyline for Lucknow. I hope i have not offended you by moving the picture to a sub-section and I hope we will continue to add good content and refine this article at the same time. Muchos gracias for participating in the discussion! — Aksera 22:33, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry, I don't really think Lucknow has a skyline either. User:Einstein90
Hi Guys ! I share your passion for Lucknow. Talking of skylines, do I think Lucknow has a skyline of sorts. Both in the traditional old Lucknow as well as the broad avenued Gomtinagar with its malls and high rises.
We need better and brighter pictures of Lucknow that capture its essence. Some ideas : - Roomi gate which makes a good mascot for the city.( for the introductory section ) - Pictures from Lucknow Zoo ( for laces to visit ) - Qaisebagh complex (for the Culture Section ) - Vidhan Sabha building ( for Setion on Govt & Politics ) -Old and dated pictures like that of La Martiniere should be removed and replaced with newer ones
- You mention good points, buddy. However, i have a different opinion about the La Martiniere picture you removed from the History section. That picture has historical importance and its caption clearly said "Sir Claude Martin's palace..." so you might want to reconsider your stand. — Aksera 16:17, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Education & Institutes
The lists were a mess. I have made a major structural change by consolidating fragmented sentences and paragraphs. Please discuss here if you decide to modify the structure. I propose to move the institution lists to the appropriate category (List of educational institutes in Lucknow) and just put a link to the category in this section. Of course, we will be able to elaborate more on prime institutes like Lucknow University or IIM then. What say, guys? — Aksera 00:26, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that imrovement ! I think it would be a good idea to showcase Lucknow as an Educational and Research hub.
In my opinion , the pictures of schools should be avoided or atleast replaced with better pictures.--moon 12:02, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Message for editor w/ IP 122.161.x.x
I see that you have been actively editing this article. Please register so that other users can communicate with you in a better way. As for your edits on Lucknow, I would like to go over them one-by-one:
- Let the school pictures stay, they don't violate Wikipedia rules but rather add to the content positively.
- The noun ambience is an out-dated usage of ambiance so let that stay as well.
- Not sure about this so I am leaving your edit. Are there different campuses of LU—Main campus and perhaps more with other names?
- Nice additions!
- Thank you for adding UPTU to the list, it totally slipped off my mind!
I don't know if i am going to be able to keep up this kind of discussions for long. But I have just started on Wikipedia so this passion should last for at least a few weeks :P. Thank you for reading this! — Aksera 12:04, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Edit to this article or new article?
Lucknow medival finding belong to pasi kingdoms, even befor Nawab era,who were defeated by muslims(nawab) invaders. Lucknow had two famous king who have given defeat to muslim (nawab) invaders. Lakhnaa paasi(on which Lucknow is also said to get name),Bijli Paasi.Lakhnaa Paasi was beheaded by muslim invaders. His head was thrown into an historical drain of Lucknow Sar-kataa Nalaa (means Human beheaded Drain). The history realted to PAASI kingdom is found in various websites related to Lucknow. - Asheesh Mishra, Lucknow.
Lucknow, a village in the township of Huron-Kinloss in Huron County, Ontario, Canada (Population 1100) was named after the town in India where, in 1857, a vicious battle took place between the besieging native rebels and the British army. Horrendous tales of the Indian Mutiny, as it was called, reached even the Canadian wilderness. "Sepoy" on the town's welcome sign is a reference to the Indian foot soldiers who fought on the British side in the Relief of Lucknow. The "Drive Canny" addendum on the sign is demonstrative of the Scottish ancestry of it's founding people.
- This is awesome info - could not have got this at any other place than wikipedia. To your question: Start new article.doles 14:38, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Lists
Some sections of the webpage are really long, should the be moved to some separate page or a list, for example List of educational institutes in Lucknow and List of companies in Lucknow on the lines of other metro city pages in India 152.66.37.76 14:42, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree too, the article is getting crowded and we could move some information to Lists. IrfanAli 14:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Copy-editing
I have copy-edited this article substantially, and I plan to remove the copy-edit notice as well. I have tried not to change any of the content, since I am not from Lucknow, and am not aware of much about Lucknow either. --ashwatha 09:46, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Article's a minor mess. Seems to be more like a tourist brochure than an encyclopedia article. Amar | Talk 06:15, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)
