Muhammad Yusuf Khandlawi (1917 - 1965) was a Sunni scholar from the village of Kandhla in Uttar Pradesh, India. He is the author of "The Lives of the Sahaba" [1] He was a student of Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi, who in turn was a student of Shaykh Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri. He is the son of Muhammad Ilyas, founder of the Tabligh Jamaat movement. After his father's death in 1944, Muhammad Yusuf Khandlawi took over the movement.[2] The spread of the movement worldwide is often attributed to his leadership. His cousin Inam al-Hasan became the leader of the movement.
