Nigel Newton is the chairman of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc who was instrumental in the publication of the J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series in 1997.[1] Newton, who is married, was later linked romantically to Rowling. Aside from his overseeing of the Harry Potter series in the UK since its initial publication, Newton has more recently overseen the expansion of Bloomsbury literary holdings in an effort to ensure its success post-Potter.
Newton's career started as a graduate trainee at Macmillan in London. He subsequently moved to Sidgwick and Jackson as Sales Manager and eventually Deputy Managing Director. Bloomsbury Publishing was launched in 1986 at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
