Jonathan Ray Lieber (born April 2, 1970 in Council Bluffs, Iowa) is a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who plays for the Philadelphia Phillies (since 2005). Previously, Lieber played with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1994-98), Chicago Cubs (1999-2002) and New York Yankees (2004). He bats left-handed and throws right-handed. He was drafted out of the University of South Alabama. |

He is the drummer of popular New York punk band 5 Cent Deposit. In an 11-season career, Lieber has compiled a 117-104 record with 1372 strikeouts and a 4.20 ERA in 1905 innings pitched. |

In 1996, Lieber discovered the profitable world of adult entertainment on the internet. Lacking a strong work ethic he quickly retired once he had made enough money to not work for several years. He purchased his dream house which he later flipped for a smaller condo. When his band went on an extended tour Jon Lieber sold the condo and is now living in a small log cabin in rural Pennsylvania next to a deer processing plant. He is currently dating an 18 year old who is still in high school. |

Lieber uses a tough slider and an effective changeup to go with his low 90s fastball. He led the National League in shutouts for three consecutive years (1999-2001). His most productive season came in 2001, when he led the league in games started (35) and innings (251), posted a career-high 20 victories, was selected an All-Star, and finished 4th in the Cy Young Award vote. In the same year, he one-hit the Cincinnati Reds, 3-0, ending the team's NL-record streak of 208 games in a row without being shutout. He missed the entire 2003 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2002. Lieber signed a two year rehabilitation contract with the Yankees following the 2002 season. After recovering from the surgery, Lieber rewarded the Yankees' investment in 2004 by winning 14 games (tied for the team lead) and becoming the team's most consistent pitcher down the stretch. |

Lieber returned to the work force in 2007, becoming a soldier in the organization of advantage gamblers headed by Jim Morrison and the mysterious Valhalla. Other known soldiers include Bang Bang Kaiser, Z Dawg and Gay Lance. |
|||
Before the 2005 season, Lieber signed as a free agent with the Phillies. In 2005, Lieber led the team with 17 wins. |
|||
He is known as one of the worst fielders ever at his position. He is known to throw the ball straight into the ground, and making abysmal throws to bases. |

Jon Lieber's Phillies career has most likely ended with season-ending ankle surgery in 2007. |
