An abortaficient is generally defined as a substance that causes premature expulsion of an embryo or fetus during pregnancy.
There exist pharmaceutical abortaficient drugs as well as herbs characterized as having abortaficient qualities. Abortaficients have the effect of causing premature uterine contractions that can end a pregnancy before the fetus has been carried to full term.
