2008 in NASCAR can refer to any of the following NASCAR national series:
The 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 9 with the annual Bud Shootout at Daytona International Speedway, followed the following day by pole qualifying for the 2008 Daytona 500, which will celebrate its 50th running on February 18. The season will continue with the Chase for the Sprint Cup beginning in mid-September of that year and concluding with the Ford 400 sometime in November 2008. Due to the merger in 2006 of Sprint and NEXTEL, NASCAR's premier series will be known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the 2008 season and beyond.

Car of Tomorrow...Today
Effective with the 2008 season, all NEXTEL Cup races will utilize the Car of Tomorrow template. NASCAR announced on May 22, 2007 that the original timetable, which would have the full-time use of the single car template in 2009, was being abandoned as 80% of all owners were in favor of moving the full-time use of the CoT one year ahead so they would not play with two sets of rules for all but ten races.

Teams
Each Sprint Cup race has a field of 43 cars.

These cars are expected to attempt all 36 Sprint Cup races, as of May 10, 2007. This table is a work in progress, as teams are currently in the progress of completing contracts with sponsors and drivers.

Confirmed Teams
These teams have confirmed through press releases that the driver and/or sponsor will be with their team in 2008. Many drivers and sponsors have contracts with the teams, even though contracts can be ended early if an agreement between a driver and an owner are made.

<includeonly>Do not edit this unless there is a team release that either driver or sponsor will return for 2007.</includeonly>
