Francis Martin Patrick Boyle (born 16 August 1972 in Glasgow) is a Scottish comedian, and has appeared on TV shows Mock the Week (where he is a regular) and 8 Out of 10 Cats and has written for Jimmy Carr's show Distraction.
He first came to fame in 1996 when he won the Daily Mail Open Mic award. Glaswegian Frankie has performed extensively in the UK, his highly original, well-honed and intelligent material is punctuated by copious amounts of topical content. He is in great demand as a writer, is currently developing several television ideas, and in 2003 and 2004 has made several radio pilots for BBC Radio Scotland
Boyle started out on The Stand Up Show in 1995, and spent most of the time between this and 2002 playing at various festivals around the country.
In 2002 he appeared on The Live Floor Show and much of this material was used to write jokes for Jimmy Carr on Distraction, which started out in 2003.
Frankie Boyle performed his new stand up show, The Voice of Black America, at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He will return to the 2007 Fringe with a new show, Morons I Can Heal You.
He often gets mistaken for fellow spectacle-wearing Scots, The Proclaimers, who are from Leith.
On the 16th June episode of Would I Lie To You? Frankie revealed that he is allergic to (British) coins as they contain copper.
On the 29th June episode of 8 Out Of 10 Cats, he mentioned that during the recent storms in Scotland "I shag my girlfriend and pretend it's the conception of the Antichrist". He then revealed his girlfriend is actually pregnant.
