Following the fall of the Bastille (1789), at the beginning of the French Revolution, Louis Joseph de Bourbon, 8th Prince of Condé fled from France, and estalished himself at at Worms in 1791, where he set about raising the Royalist émigré army of Condé, which participated in the French Revolutionary War of 1792 - 97 alongside Austria, until the peace of Campo Formio in 1797. During 1979 Louis Joseph de Bourbon was in the pay of England.
