Mira Sorvino (* September 28, 1968) is an American actress. Born in New Jersey, she is the daughter of veteran actor Paul Sorvino, whose credits include Goodfellas, Oliver Stone's Nixon, and TV's Law and Order.
She is a Harvard graduate with a degree in East Asian Studies. She spent a year abroad in China, and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. After graduating from college she spent three years in New York City trying to make a name for herself as an actress. An early role that helped her career was her portrayal of a prostitute named Linda in Woody Allen's the Mighty Aphrodite for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has gone on to play opposite Lisa Kudrow in Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and has worked with Val Kilmer in At First Sight.
