Loughborough Junction railway station

Loughborough Junction is an area of South London, in the Borough of Lambeth, which lies on the borderline of Brixton and Camberwell. It is centred at a junction which consists of 6 railway bridges which can all be seen at once when stood in the centre of the junction. Loughborough Junction can be found within the postal codes of SE5 and SW9, which shows its southern central position. It forms a border between Herne Hill, Brixton and Camberwell. The main road which goes through it is Coldharbour Lane, which runs from Camberwell all the way to central Brixton.

The area itself deteriorated over the years, due largely to drug and gang related problems, resulting in both pubs "The Green Man" and "The Junction" being shut down and many shops being bordered up. That said, both pubs have recently been renovated and are rumoured to become gastropubs.

The property in the area is a mixture of Victorian architecture and Georgian architecture mansion blocks and town houses, and local authority housing estates. The main estates are the Loughborough estate, the Angell Town estate, and the Moorlands Estate.

Although the area has a reputation for gang violence, a strong Rastafarian culture can also be found, which can be seen counterbalancing the crack subculture which tarnished the area.

Like Brixton and Camberwell, there is a large African-Caribbean population.
