Javi Garcia (born February 8, 1987 in Murcia) is a Spanish footballer. Cousin of Luis Garcia of Atletico Madrid, he is talented defensive midfielder that has grown in the Real Madrid youth ranks for the past 5 years.

Summer 2006

Summer 2006 was a very busy summer for the youngster. First he won the European Championship with the U-19 Spanish squad, impressing a lot of people including the Real Madrid first team head coach Fabio Capello, an impression that brought him a first team place for a while. Javi played in most of Real Madrid's last summer games, including a place in the starting lineup in both Ramón de Carranza Trophy games alongside new purchase Emerson.

At the end of the summer Javi was supposed to graduate to the first team squad but a situation of too many players in the squad prevented that golden opportunity. Through not graduating to the senior team, Javi is supposed to have been offered opportunities elsewhere to show his talent, especially to a number of clubs in the Premiership. ] However, he was included in Bernd Schuster team for the 2007/08 season. On July 23th he has been linked to a move to Liverpool F.C.. Goal.com quoting "Rafa Benítez is keen to add another Spanish player to the Liverpool ranks after showing an interest in Real Madrid Castilla star Javi García".
