The Lupin & Tonks Family are fictional characters in the Harry Potter book series written by J. K. Rowling. The combined family was created after the marriage of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks. The marriage itself took place between the events of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. At the end of Deathly Hallows, the last remaining members of the family are Andromeda Tonks and Teddy Lupin.Template:HP7

Lupin's Side
Lupin is a half-blood, born, according to the series, to a wizard and a Muggle woman on March 10, 1960.Template:HP3
Tonks' Side
On Tonks' side of the family, she is related to the Weasleys, the Blacks, and the Malfoys through marriages and other connections. She is the daughter of the witch Andromeda Tonks and the muggle-born Ted Tonks. Andromeda is the first cousin of Sirius, and the sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy.[1]
The Family
Teddy Lupin
Template:HP character Ted "Teddy" Remus Lupin (b. spring 1998) is the orphaned only son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks and godson of Harry Potter. He was named after Tonks' father, Ted, who was murdered while on the run after refusing to register as a Muggle-born wizard.
Teddy Lupin's only appearances in the Harry Potter series occur in the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, first as a new-born baby and later as a 19-year-old, when he appears to be romantically involved with Victoire Weasley.
His only known surviving relative is his maternal grandmother, Andromeda Tonks (née Black). It is unknown whether she raised him. It is also unknown whether his father's werewolf status affected Teddy in any way, but it is apparent virtually from his birth that Teddy is a metamorphmagus like his mother. Teddy does not live with his godfather Harry Potter, but they are close; Harry notes that Teddy comes to dinner four times a week. Teddy could be compared to Sirius Black, who thought of the Potters as his second family, or even to Harry himself; who was orphaned as an infant, raised by other family members, and grew very close to his godfather.Template:HP7
Andromeda Tonks
Andromeda Tonks (née Black) (born c. 1953) is a fictional character from the Harry Potter series of novels. She is the mother of Nymphadora Tonks and married to Ted Tonks who is muggleborn. Born Andromeda Black, she is a pure-blood witch, daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black née Rosier and sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy. The middle sister, she was burned off the family tapestry in 12 Grimmauld Place by her aunt Walburga and banned from the family because she married Ted Tonks, a Muggle-born wizard. Walburga and Orion Black are her aunt and uncle on her father's side, and Sirius and Regulus Black her cousins. Evan Rosier may be a relative on her mother's side. Orion Black is her uncle by marriage, as well as her second cousin once removed. She was Sirius Black's favourite cousin, but he never met her (post-marriage) family before his imprisonment in Azkaban.
Role in the series
Andromeda was mentioned in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as being Nymphadora's mother and Sirus' favorite cousin out of the three sisters. However she is not properly introduced until the beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. She is said to greatly resemble her sister Bellatrix (so much so that Harry momentarily reacts badly to her appearance), but she is more benign-looking and has soft brown, rather than black, hair.
Little is known of her personality, except that she apparently has a talent for household spells and cleanliness which her husband and daughter lack, and that she is responsible for giving her daughter the name "Nymphadora" (which Nymphadora hates, preferring to be known simply as "Tonks", or later, "Dora"), a name containing elements typical to Andromeda's family. Although Remus Lupin believes that Andromeda and Ted are displeased by their daughter's marrying a werewolf, this is never overtly stated and can perhaps be attributed to Lupin's understandably bleak outlook on how werewolves are treated by most of the wizarding world. Nymphadora apparently lives with her parents for at least part of her pregnancy, and gives birth to Andromeda's grandson, Teddy Remus Lupin in their home. For someone who is not a member of the resistance or the Order of the Phoenix, the war with Voldemort and his followers exacts a heavy toll on Andromeda: her husband, daughter, and son-in-law are all killed. As the epilogue states that Teddy isn't living with his godfather Harry Potter, it is probable that he was raised by Andromeda.
Name etymology
In Greek mythology, Andromeda is the daughter of the king and queen of Ethiopia who is chained to a rock to be sacrificed to a sea monster sent by the god Poseidon. She is rescued by Perseus, who weds her despite her being already betrothed to Phineus.
In Astronomy, Andromeda is the name of a constellation (named after the mythological character) and also of a galaxy within that constellation. The Andromeda Galaxy is the nearest that is of comparable size to our own Milky Way; the pair are the two largest galaxies of the Local Group.

Role in the Series
Ted was briefly mentioned by his daughter in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Ted played a much more active role Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Near the beginning of novel, his home acts as a hideout for Harry and Hagrid, as the two were on the run from Voldemort. His home holds the port key, which helps Harry escape. Ted is later killed by Voldemort, for his hand in Harry's escape.Template:HP7
When Tonks gave birth to her and Lupin's son, they name him Ted in honor of her father.
