This is the first album of Siti Nurhaliza after her success in the contest held by RTM (Bintang RTM) 1995. Fully produced by Adnan Abu Hasan a renounced composer in Malaysia. It was launced on 1 April 1996 using her name as the title of the album. This album is entirely focuses on pop and ballard genre with it infamous single "Jerat Percintaan" which later on successfully won the Juara Lagu competition held by TV3 the same year.

Recording

Siti's debut album was recorded during Islamic month of Ramadhan, with the first title, "Jawapan Di Persimpangan" being her first recorded song, completed in just 45 minutes. As Siti was still attending high school at the time, recording of one to two songs contained in this album was done every Friday and Saturday evenings.

Contest

Jerat Percintaan was the famous and remembered song in this album. The song, composed by Adnan Abu Hassan, won her the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) for the first time in 1996. She won three categories, namely, "Best Ballard Song", "Best Performance" and "Juara Lagu" which is the highest title of all in the competion.
