Information

SJVC is a private junior college with 8 campuses located in Southern, Central, and Northern California and 1 Online campus. SJVC was founded in 1977 by Robert and Shirley Perry. SJVC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for community and junior colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges WASC an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditationand the U.S. Department of Education

SJVC has main campuses in Visalia, Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto, Rancho Cordova and Rancho Cucamonga; as well as an extension of the Visalia campus in Hanford, and aviation campus in Fresno, and an online campus.

Mission Statement

The mission of San Joaquin Valley College is to provide quality educational programs and activities to a student population from diverse ethnic, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

Objectives

To implement its mission, the College will:

Provide associate degrees, certificates and continuing education in a variety of career fields.
Identify and respond to the educational needs of the community.
Provide an environment that will enable students to build self-esteem and develop their individual potential.
Encourage the pursuit of lifelong learning.
Maintain a climate of academic freedom and honesty, in which a variety of viewpoints and learning experiences may be shared.
Offer education directed toward career development and advancement.
Provide a basic foundation of general education that will acquaint students with natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences, humanities, English, communication, and analytic thinking skills.
Provide a quality learning environment with facilities and equipment that support our educational programs.
Provide well-trained graduates to the business and professional community.
Be a good citizen by playing an active role in community events.
Provide a distance learning mode of education.
