High School Musical 2 is the soundtrack album to the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie of the same name. It will be released in the U.S. on August 14, 2007. Radio Disney premiered the film's first single and opening musical number, What Time Is It?, on June 9, 2007[1]. "Bet On It" premiered on Radio Disney on Friday, June 29, 2007.[2] You Are the Music in Me later premiered in Disney XD on July 7, 2007.

The album will also be released in stores in the UK on August 13,2007[3]

The "I Don't Dance" music video premiered July 27, 2007 at 7pm on Disney Channel Mexico just before "El Maravilloso Mundo De Disney" section.

Wal-Mart Special Edition

Wal-Mart will release a 2-Disc Special Collector's Edition of the soundtrack on August 14, 2007, including a 45-minute DVD featuring recording and rehearsal sessions, interviews, and collectible cast photos. [10]

Philippine Edition Bonus Track

According to K-Zone Philippines' blog on their official website [2] the Philippine Edition of the soundtrack will include a cover version of Troy/Gabriella duet, "Gotta Go My Own Way". The cover version of "Gotta Go My Own Way" will be performed by Nikki Gil, who also performed in the Asian Version of "Breaking Free" with Alicia Pan and Vince Chong.
