Cory in the House is an American children's television series on the Disney Channel and a spin-off from the hit Disney Channel Original Series That's So Raven. The show premiered on January 12, 2007. The show was renewed for a second season.
The Series
Victor Baxter (Rondell Sheridan) gets a job as a personal chef to the President of the United States and, with daughter Raven Baxter (Raven Symone) in designing school and her friends Chelsea Daniels (Anneliese van der Pol) and Eddie Thomas (Orlando Brown) attending college and wife Tanya Baxter still in law school in London, he and his son Cory Baxter (Kyle Massey) pack up and move to the White House in Washington, D.C. There, Cory has to deal with adjusting to a new life at a prep school, while Victor attempts to deal with the pressures of working for the newly-elected president of the United States, President Richard Martinez.
Characters
Main Characters
- Kyle Massey as Cory Baxter - The main character in the series. Cory lives with father Victor Baxter and is best friends with Newt Livingston, and Meena Paroom, on whom he has a crush. Cory often is irritated with the President's 8-year-old daughter Sophie Martinez, because of her two-facedness. He usually looks to his dad for advice.
- Jason Dolley as Newton "Newt" Livingston III - The son of a senator and the Chief Justice, he is the best friend of Meena Paroom and Cory Baxter. He is not very bright, he normally gets things wrong, and loves rock and roll.
- Maiara Walsh as Meena Paroom - The daughter of the Bahavian Ambassador, and the best friend of Newt Livingston and Cory Baxter. Meena is the object of Cory's affection, but is not aware of this. She likes to do things differently from the traditional Bahavian culture.
- Rondell Sheridan as Victor Baxter - The new Chef at the White House, and is also Cory Baxter's father.
- John D'Aquino as President Richard Martinez - The President of the United States and Sophie Martinez's father.
- Madison Pettis as Sophie Martinez - The President's 8-year-old daughter and "America's Angel". She is often seen as mischievous, but also looks up to her father, President Richard Martinez. She loves Victor's french fries, and had a crush on Newt for a while.
- Lisa Kushell as Samantha Samuels - President Richard Martinez's Personal Assistant. She is very strict and likes things fit to the President's needs. According to the episode The New Kid in Town, she might have been the President's campaign manager also.
- Jake Thomas as Jason Stickler- One of Cory's classmates, nemesis, and sometimes ally. He also has a massive crush on Meena, and often challenges Cory to win her heart. Jason's father runs the CIA and equips him with all the latest technology (and uses it against Cory mostly), but when it comes to his plans they always go wrong.

Production & International Broadcasts
The only spin-off show produced by Disney, Cory in the House was originally set to premiere on November 10, 2006; however, it was delayed to air on January 12, 2007, a week before the fourth anniversary of its parent show, That's So Raven and directly following the movie Jump In!. It was released on Disney Channel India on June 9, 2007 at 9 p.m. It was released in the United Kingdom on January 26, 2007 on Disney Channel UK, which is the soonest a Disney show has ever been released in another country, and premiered in Portugal in March. The show premiered on Disney Channel France on April 24, 2007, on Disney Channel Asia on April 27, 2007 and in Disney Channel Italy on May 16, 2007. It premiered on June 10, 2007 in Disney Channel Latin America after the premiere of Disney Channel's Original Movie Jump In!. In Fall 2007, ABC Kids will add Cory in the House to their Saturday-morning lineup. [1]
The pilot episode, 'The New Kid in Town, was released on iTunes for free on the week of January 2, 2007. Disney Channel UK showed the first episode on January 26 as a sneak peek. The theme song "Cory in the House" is sung by Kyle Massey and Maiara Walsh. An alternate theme song "Rollin' to D.C." is also sung by Massey and Walsh and is used in the music video for the series. The premiere gained 7.6 million viewers, making it the highest rated series premiere for Disney. [citation needed]
The show was created by Marc Warren and Dennis Rinsler, who produced That's So Raven. Cory in the House began filming on July 18, 2006 at Hollywood Center Studios (where The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and That's So Raven are filmed), and uses a studio audience in some scenes. [2]
Many of the episode titles like Hannah Montana are parodies of popular songs. For example, We Built This Kitty on Rock and Roll and We Built This City, Mall of Confusion and Ball of Confusion, Smells Like School Spirit and Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Ain't Miss Bahavian and Ain't Misbehavin'.

- In That's So in the House, when Cory is disguised as Raven, Cory utters many of Raven's signature catchphrases such as "Oh snap!", "I'm OK!", and "Home skillet biscuits" that were used on the show's parent program.
