What does his years of travel mean? Thanks, Ejrrjs | What? 20:09, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Nazi affiliations

It is somewhat disingenuous to say that Nolde supported the Nazi Party "when it took power"; he had been a member of the party since the early 1920s and was one of Joseph Goebbels' favourite painters, much to Hitler's annoyance. The relationships between the artistic avant garde and the political Right of the inter-war period is more complex than many people suppose and Nolde's relationship with, and commitment to, the Nazi Party illustrates this well. Merge Proposal

I added a merge proposal to the front of this article. Someone has suggested that the article titled "Nolde" be merged with this one. That makes sense to me, since there is no special purpose served by having two articles for the same person. Unfortunately, no-one on this page would know there is such a proposal, so I have belatedly added the notice. Any objections to or support for a merger? Ande B 19:38, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree totally. There´s not need for two Emil Nolde articles in here. User:Mistico
