Band History

Haven't they outgrown Sheena yet? I agree that it's a fairly significant stage in their development, but they do have more history than that. Some kind of comprehensive band history might be nice.

Yeah I agree with that. Its a bit daft having that whole bit on ntheir first single when there is a page for it. Unfortunately someone deleted the little bit of history we had. A bit of investigation needs to be done... 82.44.239.106 13:08, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Names

Just wondering how we should write down the boys names, what with them adopting pseudonyms an all...

I've added the Band Details Box and such, now abouts to rearrange content (previous edits on 12th August were me) Hejog 18:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Cunningham has produced other work in last 7 years, I'm taking that out Drew 04:19, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Vandalism

Someone has been trashing the page consistantly - and somewhere in the midst of this vandalism the information about the album "Strange house" has been lost... I'm not very wiki literate.. could someone please put this information back on? Thank you.

Joe's Name dispute

Drum player Coffin Joe's real name is NOT Johnathon, it is Joseph - any articles that say otherwise are poorly researched and basically - bad journalism, (and the journalists continuing to make this mistake are probably basing it on the misinformed section on this wikipedia page) Whoever is persistantly changing it back to Johnathon, could they please stop?

SOMEONE HAS DONE IT AGAIN! And again they have cited the reference to the badly researched article which is incorrect! His name is JOSEPH!

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review_11266 <-- this is an incorrect reference.

Are there any sources that say his name is joseph? 82.35.208.43 11:21, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am looking for a reference - but I'm struggling. Best I can offer is a screen shot of a message from Spider Webb's mum asking if I could change it back to Joseph. I am one of the moderators on their official forum, I'm not just "assuming" that his name is Joseph, it actually is, but I'll try and get some evidence of some sort (not too sure how though).

Thank you :) Not trying to be difficult but it's best to have a source and we have sources for jonathan. Maybe we should put a note about the dispute?

Actually now I think about it I don't care what it says, lets leave it as joseph (it really doesn't matter :D) and I obviously don't have as much free time as you.....

Vibestation?

There is no mention of this band member on the back of their single for Sheena is a parasite. Also this would be a sixth member and I'm pretty sure there are only 5. I'm deleting it. 195.195.166.31 11:40, 25 September 2006 (UTC) Its Joshua Von Grimm Vibestation ... If you have a look at his name on myspace www.myspace.com/joshgrimm People should never make their own names up ... its silly[reply]

Genre?

Does anyone want to clear up the genre issue? What we have at the moment seems a bit confused. I thought they were goth, but I don't really know. 195.195.166.31 11:40, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I vaguely see them being looped in with goth. Ironically NME is kissing their ass, and they HATE goth bands. They are under deathrock right now, I guess we could keep it under there. They have a somewhat deathrock overtone to them...I think No-Wave might even work...Post-Punk and Garage Punk are just so vague. Justyn1337 17:26, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Surf rock? I can't credit that. I'm changing it. 195.195.166.31 18:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The elements that are similar to gothic rock is along the lines of The Damned IMO, likely because of the shared Sutch influence. I wouldn't say deathrock though, maybe elements of psychobilly. - Deathrocker 20:58, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

josh did not attend City University. He attended University College London, a far superior establishment. He didn't get a First either.

I was going to say that the getting a first thing must be a blag.

Not horror punk. They seem to be trying to me horror punk but failing miserably. too poppy and indie to be horror punk so i will remove it--213.7.48.114 20:25, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

who the fuck is changing the genre? leave it alone69.234.121.87 00:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lol are you a genuine fool? In what way are the horrors remotely 'psychobilly'? 82.35.208.43 01:11, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Horror punk again? Let's settle on something. Have we fully decided to rid of Horror punk, psychobilly, or gothabilly? I'm tempted to keep gothabilly in.

gothabilly? maybe yes. i agree horror punk shouldn't be listed but neither should surf rock

They're synth punk. All this goth stuff is silly, they are not goth music-wise.--Josquius 09:07, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please..LEAVE THE GENRES ALONE!!!69.234.121.87 19:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genre is now what they themselves claim to be on their MySpace page - 'garage/punk/surf'. I know that MySpace genres are bollocks, but at least we have some kind of fixed point now.

Exactly!

what are you talking about?! youre the only who has changed it69.234.154.178 18:59, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

they are not psychobilly! gothabilly, maybe, but psychobilly should be out of the question69.234.131.76 19:13, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I personally asked Coffin Joe (right after their Toronto show on the night of June 11 2007, I have a picture of myself with him, I'll post up the URL of it, if you want it as a Source or whatever) what genre does HE think they belong to, and I asked him if The Horrors are a "Goth Band", and he said "Well, we're not a Goth band in terms of the whole Futurist element, but I guess you can say we're like Joy Division, The Birthday Party, and The Cure... That kind of Goth". There you go, now stop arguing.

Someone Playing A Prank

I removed "Katherine Von Grimm" from the band members, as I believed it to be some sort of poor joke. However, I instead added Freddie Cowan as a sort of guest, because if I recall, he did fill in for Joshua during a few shows. Also, what is this nonsense about Faris being in a long-term relationship with a woman named Le-anne? I don't believe there is any evidence of this and removed it as well.

The New Picture

I changed the picture to their album cover (Strange House), which has them on it. Considering the picture of them on the cover of NME was pretty blurry, I thought this would be better. I also added a caption. Tell me what you think of this change. If you like this change, adding the band memebers name in the caption would be a good idea also. She Is A New Song, Just A Lot Of People Seemed To Not Like It

Did "She Is A New Thing" make it into the charts at all? The song has been sitting as a release for May 14th for a while now, yet the "chart" bit has remained as "N/A" for a fair while as well. Did everyone not like it THAT much that it didn't even chart? Or did they do what they did before and pack it full of stickers so that it couldn't?--SteelersFan UK06 17:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone's changed the date, never mind now! -- SteelersFan UK06 04:31, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another Horrors

I'm new to Wikipedia. Information should be added to this entry to make a disctinction between this band and an American band with the same name. They're a bass-less trio from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and have two albums. The first album, from 2000 (In the Red), is wildly distorted farm-punk reminiscent of The Cramps or Doo Rag. The second album was more conventional pool hall rock.

Lately I've been thinking, "Wow, they finally hit the big time," before doing a little research and discovering all the buzz is about another band.

Ahward 22:07, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, actually I've noticed that quite a few times that their is another Horros band kicking about. They don't seem any less notable...eep. Cough *Disambig* cough.... --SteelersFan UK06 07:43, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Thehorrorsepalbumcover.jpg

Image:Thehorrorsepalbumcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. THE HORRORS

I'm helping out my friends at tourdates.co.uk and I know there is a profile on THE HORRORS on the site which I think is worth linking to because it has gig listings, reviews and news. If anybody else agrees please could you add http://www.tourdates.co.uk/thehorrors to the related links section?
