Synopsis

Released after centuries spent entombed beneath the Arctic ice, the Titans, Greek mythic gods, set out to eliminate their captors, the Elders. Phoebe and Paige bait a Titan and try to destroy it. They are almost killed, but Phoebe is saved by Chris, a mysterious Whitelighter from the future. Paige is turned to stone, but Phoebe manages to reverse the damage.

Meanwhile, Leo makes a decision to give the Charmed Ones the ultimate power to vanquish the Titans, recreating them as Greek Goddesses, despite the risk that they will be seduced by their vast new powers. Phoebe becomes the Goddess of Love, Piper the Goddess of Earth, and Paige the Goddess of War.

Book of Shadows

Enemies

  • Titans: Titans are ancient and all-powerful gods who once ruled the Earth before they were entombed by the Elders three thousand years ago. The only way the Elders could stop them was by infusing mortals with tremendous amount of power. However, when the mortals trapped the Titans, the power had corrupted them and declared themselves as Gods: the Greek Gods. Three Titans were freed by a demon, but he was later vanquished by them, and were later vanquished by the Charmed Ones who were transformed into Greek Goddesses. The known Titans were Meta, Cronos, and Demetrius.

Spells

  • Spell used by the demon Murdock to awaken Meta and Demetrius:
Emergo dormio Libertas caeles diccio (Translation - Arise from Sleep. Quickly free the Powers)
  • Spell Leo used to turned the Charmed ones into Goddesses.
    Ekre oh-ghee ak-man minento.

(Translation - Behold, oh, bring forth and command my will.)

Trivia

  • The episode title is a reference to the phrase Oh my god!. Coincidently it's also the title of the manga series Oh My Goddess!.
  • This is the first appearance of Chris Halliwell, Piper and Leo's later-revealed second son.
  • When he first appeared, Chris said that his name was Chris Perry in order to hide his identity. One theory is that "Perry" is actually his middle name, however this has never been confirmed on the series.
  • This is the second appearance of Darryl's wife Sheila Morris. The first episode she appeared in was "Centennial Charmed".
  • Phoebe begins to receive a series of premonitions starting from this episode into several others in which the audience does not see her vision. This happened as well before this episode in Lucky Charmed.
  • Chris' appearance in this episode is the first time we see an adult male witch. Before this episode, MFE the male witches have been children. However, Max, from Secrets and Guys was a teenager.
  • In this episode Chris states that in his future Paige never survived the battle with the Titans and the power of three was broken. Thus, he never knew his aunt Paige in his lifetime. This may well have contributed to the fact that in his original future, Wyatt was not stopped from turning evil - possibly because the power of three was not intact to do so. However, in one episode since, Chris makes reference to a future event whereby Paige lent Chris money in the future. It could be assumed that the future and his memories of the future have changed since he saved Paige. Or Chris was not telling the truth, as he knew most of the things that were going to happen after Meta confronted Paige, he knew Leo was going to become Elder and he himself was going to become the Halliwell's Whitelighter, MFE of these things won't happen if Paige dies.
  • In this episode when Chris comes in he is wearing different clothes than that he is wearing in the flashback in chris-crossed in season 6 when he travels through the vortex to the past. He also orbed in when he first appears when he left from the future he left through a pentagram-shaped teleportal. This means he arrived in the past through the pentagram earlier, changed his appearance and then orbed into the manor's attic. One could presume that in the time before orbing into the manor, Chris was organising Leo's kidnap - an event which begins at the very end of the fifth season finale and continues into the sixth season premier.
  • Actor Brian Thompson previously appeared in the Charmed episode "Apocalypse Not".
  • The Titan Meta had the power to turn beings into stone with her stare. This is an ability that Gorgons possess.
  • Phoebe states that it is over ninety degrees. However, she was wearing pants and Piper was wearing a sweater over her dress.
  • Piper and Phoebe talk about getting air conditioning for the manor, but in a previous episode "Sight Unseen", Cole turns on the air conditioning to help flush out the demon Troxa although it might have been destroyed of screen by a demon attack.
  • In Buffy the Vampire Slayer series finale, Willow, a very powerful self-taught witch, exclaims "Oh, my goddess!" at the end of her spell to distribute the power of the scythe to MFE potential Slayers. Joss Whedon (writer and creator of Buffy) himself said in a commentary that he got the phrase from Charmed.
  • Adults are not supposed to see the presence of fairy unless they were enchanted, but in this episode, Phoebe and Piper are able to see the fairy without any help of spell. But, it is possible that the spell they cast in "Once Upon a Time" never wore off.
  • Actress Lisa Thornhill who portrays Meta was also cast in the TV show Veronica Mars as Celeste Kane. The show was picked up by UPN in September 2004, then later moved to the CW (a station that shows both UPN and WB programs) in October 2006.
  • Before Piper found out the way to channel her goddess power, she was not able to track Leo or go to the Heavens. She was able to teleport to the Heavens after she defeated the Titans.
  • The trident Paige carried as goddess of war is actually the symbol of Poseidon, the god of the sea or disaster or earthshaker.
  • Demetrius (from Greek Δημήτριος) is actually a male form of Demeter, goddess of earth, grain and agriculture.
  • This episode got a 4.7/7 in ratings share.
