Dr. William Gibson (1932–2002) was an African American dentist who served as chair of the NAACP from 1985 to 1995.
A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and Meharry Medical College, Gibson became president of his local NAACP branch while working as a dentist in South Carolina. He succeeded Margaret Bush-Wilson as national chairperson at the age of 53.
