A microalbumin urine test detects the presence of the protein albumin in urine. In a properly functioning body, albumin is not normally present in urine because it is filtered from the bloodstream by the kidneys. When the kidneys are not working properly albumin can leak into the urine leading to a condition called Microalbuminuria.
