You know how many people get killed due to trauma to the aorta? It's our own damn thermal exhaust port, just waiting to be exploited by some homicidal rebel scum. We need to get behind doing some serious genetic engineering, so we can start wrapping-up stuff like this in some sort of internal carapace - all safe & sound.

==Expand stub==
This is a good stub, but it needs expansion. May I suggest Embryology and Development, Physiology and Biomechanics, and Diseases expanded. Regards. [[User:GetAgrippa|GetAgrippa]] 00:45, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

How about a diagram?

Good idea. Are you a good artist? T 03:33, 17 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Should "sinus" replace "root" in the following passage? "The initial part of the aorta, the ascending aorta, rises out of the left ventricle, from which it is separated by the aortic valve. The two coronary arteries of the heart arise from the aortic root, just above the cusps of the aortic valve."

Expansion?

I'm no Quincy, M.E., but shouldn't this article be rather larger than it currently is? Could someone who knows the correct syntax add the expansion or stub tag as they think necessary? Thanks.

References in Pop Culture

I removed this section because this is the only point it had and it just seemed out of place.

  • On the Canadian television show, Degrassi: The Next Generation, a main character, JT Yorke's aorta was punctured from a stab wound resulting in death.

Stupid Evolution

...I hate you, natural selection. Sure, you humor us with a thick protective dome over our wonderful brains - but what about the damn aorta!? What, is my Goddamn STERNUM supposed to be my MVP here? Are you fucking KIDDING ME?
