The current Bath Abbey is the third church built on its current location in the middle of Bath.
The first church was built in 757 and survived until 1066 when it was destroyed during the Norman conquest. A new church was built in 1090 but due to lack of funds it soon fell into disrepair.
The current church was built in 1499 and is still in active use.
