The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth operate the University of Saint Mary (Kansas). They also founded and operate Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California, and St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, Kansas.
The community (and the school) was founded in 1858 from a community of sisters in Nashville, Tennessee.
