Endothrix refers to a Dermatophyte infections of the hair that invades the hair shaft and internalized into the hair cell. This is in contrast to Exothrix, where a Dermatophyte infection remains confined to the hair surface. Using a ultraviolet Wood's lamp, endothrix infections will not fluoresce whereas exothrix infections will.
