Joseph Langtry

Captain Joseph Miller Langtry (b. May 1, 1805, Aldingbourne, Sussex – d. February 14, 1862, Southampton, Hampshire) Royal Navy Captain who happened to be born in the very same year as the Battle of Trafalgar; an event which marked not only the history of his own country but the history of his very own life when years later, as a young adult he chose to devote his own life to serving as a Naval Officer in the Royal Navy.

He left the academy as a young Lieutenant on October 2, 1827 commanding many ships, and after <<good and long and notorious services>> was promoted to the rank of Captain by Captain Goldsmith of HMS Wellesly on July 4, 1859. [1]
