Evangelos Venizelos (Template:Lang-gr) (born January 1 1957) is a former Greek Minister for Culture. He is a member of the Greek Parliament for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement for the Thessaloniki A constituency. In private life, he was a lawyer, professor and constitutional scholar.

Elected MP (PASOK) for Thessaloniki A in the general elections of 1993, 1996 and 2000. Member of the Parliamentary Committee for the Revision of the Constitution, on which he was spokesman for the majority party in the parliaments elected in 1993, 1996 and 2000. Minister for Development, 19-01-1999 to 13-04-2000; Minister for Culture, 25-09-1996 to 19-02-1999; Minister for Justice, 22-01-1996 to 05-09-1996; Minister for Transport and Communication, 15-09-1995 to 22-01-1996; Minister for the Press and the Media, and government spokesman, 08-07-1994 to 15-09-1995; Deputy Minister to the Presidency, and government spokesman, 13-10-1993 to 08-07-1994. Received his Ph.D. in Law in 1980 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The same institution appointed him lecturer (1984), and then Professor of Constitutional Law. Former board member of the National Centre of Public Administration (1987), and the National Bank of Greece, and also served on the Committee for Local Radio. Served on the Central Council of the Union of students of the University of Thessaloniki (FEAPT) in 1977, and the National Union of students (EFEE) in 1975. Member of the PASOK Central Committee since 1990. Member of the PASOK Executive Bureau. Published many scholarly works (monographs, textbooks) and books dealing with key current political issues and the media, institutions, foreign policy, culture and developmental policy. Papers and articles of his have been published in scholarly journals and the press.
Studies
Fluent in English and French, Venizelos holds a BA (1978) from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a PhD (1980) from the Pantheon-Assas Paris II University.
