The Sims 2: Bon Voyage is the sixth expansion pack released in The Sims 2 series of PC games. It was released on September 4 2007 in North America and September 6 in Europe. It is an expansion that focuses mainly on traveling, similar to The Sims: Vacation expansion pack for the original game.
New features
- 3 premade vacation destinations including Three Lakes (the woodland), Takemizu Village (the Far East) and Twikkii Island (the beach). Each destination has its own greeting and dance that Sims can learn.
- Ability to create custom destinations.
- Ability to buy vacation homes.
- New NPCs including ninjas, pirates, fire dancers, local chefs, various hotel staff, etc.
- New creature, the Bigfoot.
- Sims may wear accessories such as rings, earrings, and necklaces.
- Ability to walk to community lots instead of requiring a vehicle.
- Secret lots in vacation destinations that can be reached by finding a map to them.
- Tours that Sims can go on. Random chance cards can be answered which determine the outcome of the tour.
- Ability to create beach lots.
- Sims can now take photographs and get a photo album.
Initial problems
Upon the release of Bon Voyage, a programming error was reported in the official site.[2] The problem is not apparent initially but visiting community lots will reportedly have the game generate NPC character files redundantly. This will cause the game to lag when character files eventually pile up. Removing the character files is not a solution since it will cause the game to be glitchy. Maxis has acknowledged this error and are currently working to make a patch for the game. However, they started controversy be claiming the dangers of the bugs were myths, and it was relatively harmless.[citation needed] Many people[who?] disagree.
A third party fix is also available[3] and currently recommended by the programmers as a temporary fix for the issue.
