*'''UE''', '''OR''', '''LQ''' and suspected '''CV''': Uploader replaced the official Ethiopian flag with this image in the [[Ethiopia]] article. - I personally took the photograph. I attended the Simpsons event at Comic-Con 2007. I took the picture. It is not fair use. It is not orphaned. It is not unfree. I will take a picture of the picture on my camera if you want me to. CoolKid1993 02:10, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- The image runs counter to the information here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/copyright#Images which cannot be "fair use" and the underlying principle of not using material copied from existing encyclopedias and encyclopedia-like works. The image was created and used in such a context where originally published in Green Lantern Secret Files.- J Greb 00:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

- Image shows credit for television episode and "provides proof of their early writing projects, and their early collaboration (relative to their careers)". Image's content can wholly be reproduced textually, failing WP:NFCC#1. Rationale as "proof" unnecessary as episode can be referenced by the article ({{cite episode}}) for that purpose. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 07:49, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

- There's no fair use rationale on this picture. Wikimedia Commons has lots of pictures of Pinochet, and two of them are very good portraits (Image:Pinochet de Civil.jpg; Image:Augusto Pinochet - 1995.jpg) and can be used perfectly in the article, therefore there's no need to use non free media. - this image is not necessary considering how many free images we have of josephine baker (about a dozen, spanning from the 1920s to the 1950s). the main editor of the page argues it's being used to show the costumes she's known for, but these aren't discussed anywhere in the main text and he keeps moving it to the top of the article to be the article's main image. we could describe these costumes in words and readers would know no less about baker Calliopejen1 19:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Another user has also raised this issue at Talk:Josephine Baker (though I'm not sure which particular images he was referring to). Calliopejen1 19:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- actually, with regard to the "free" images, there are only 3 that are not the typical banana images from the 20s. I have uploaded images before that are far more representative of Baker as she looked as a performer, but they are always challenged by Calliopejen1, in spite of the fact that I clearly give a rationale that is logical. Free images uploaded into the commons or not, I really dont see why it is being made into such a stink. The images have been fully justified and do not infringe on any of teh copyright holders. I have requested that Calliopejen1 should help to find a way to keep the images rather than trying to get rid of them, by assisting me in choosing the proper way in which to give a rationale for an image when "free" ones are available. --Mrlopez2681 20:08, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's not just me making a stink. There were also other users on the talk page, and the admin who agreed that I was right and deleted the other nonfree images earlier. And the commons images are the reasons for the stink! By my count, there are four banana pictures, four other 1920s pictures, and four later pictures (last ones from 1951). This is plenty of pictures to illustrate the article. The problem is not that a new rationale should be written, it is that different (free) pictures should be used, because Wikipedia is the free encyclopedia. Calliopejen1 20:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
