Kim Victoria Fields (born May 12, 1969 in New York, New York) is an American actress.
Fields was discovered by an acting agent for the sitcom The Facts of Life after appearing in a commercial for Mrs. Butterworth's pancake syrup. From 1979 to 1988, she played Tootie Ramsey on the program. This was Field's most notable role. Even twenty-five years later, Tootie is known to many television viewers for her catchphrase, "We are in trou-ble!" She was also known for the braces she wore on the series for five seasons.
At some point during her early childhood career, Kim Fields starred on Good Times as a friend of Penny Woods. Her real life mother, Chip Fields, starred on Good Times as the mother of Janet Jackson's character, Penny, but the 2 Fields' women never starred in the same episodes. Kim's episodes on Good Times were "The Snow Storm" and "The Physical". Chip Fields starred in the 1976 episode "J.J's New Career" as Rochelle. In the 3-part series, "The Evans Get Involved", she played Janet Jackson's mother, Mrs. Gordon. Chip would reprise this role in the episode, "A Matter Of Mothers".
After taking time away from acting to attend Pepperdine University, she had a starring role in the hit FOX sitcom Living Single from 1993 to 1998 as Regine Hunter. Fields also stood behind the camera, as she directed the "All That" spinoff and a number of "Kenan & Kel" episodes. Fields guest-starred on television series such as One on One and appeared as herself on HBO's The Comeback.
Personal life
Fields dated fellow Living Single cast member John Henton for one year, and was married to Johnathon Franklin Freeman from 1995 to 1998. Her sister is actress Alexis Fields from Sister, Sister and her mother is actress Chip Fields from Good Times. Fields gave birth to her first child named Sebastian Alexander Morgan on May 4, 2007. The father of the child is her fiance, musician Chris Morgan. [1] The couple introduced their son the following week in People magazine. [2]On July 23rd, 2007, they were married in a private ceremony officiated by Pastor Donnie McClurkin. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Music
After the cancellation of Living Single, Fields began performing rap music and R&B with a group called Impromp2. She released a 7" single as a child called "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not", which fed off of her "Tootie" persona. As of 2006 she changed her look and style considerably, sporting either a large blonde afro or platinum blonde braids or dreadlocks. She performs under the stage name of "Blondielocks" and she released a CD called Smooth is Spoken Here.
On February 1, 2007, Fields was reunited with Lisa Whelchel on WFAA-TV's "Good Morning Texas." Fields was in Dallas to promote her appearance in the production "Issues: We've All Got 'Em" when Whelchel was introduced as a surprise guest. It marked the first time in six years (since the reunion movie) that Fields and Whelchel even had contact. The video of the reunion is posted on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6NwAMbNJE4
