Igor Ivanovich Akimushkin (May 1,1929 – 1993) was Russian zoologist, writer. He was born in Moscow. He, received a biological education in Moscow State University, which he finished in 1952. In 1961 was published his first books: "Traces of Rare Animals" and "Following Legends".
Igor Akimushkin wrote big number of popular scientific books, he made a significant contribution to science, made some discoveries by exploring the marine life. Most of his works was translated to another languages. The cephalopod name Cycloteuthis akimushkini Filippova was named in 1968 in honour of Igor Akimushkin.[1]
Most famous writers book is "Animal World".
