Lone Peak finished second in the Reno AAU Tournament and garnered an invite to the National AAU Championship in Orlando where they took 6th place in the Junior Division II [citation needed], the highest finish ever by a Utah team. [citation needed] Two years ago, the Emery-led team took 10th at the same event.[citation needed] They also won tournaments at BYU, Utah State, Payson, and finished second in another. [citation needed] The team is coached by two-time state MVP Quincy Lewis who played high school ball at Timpview High School for his father, Tim, while winning two state titles. Lewis then played collegiately at Dixie State and Wagner College. Lewis has led the team to an impressive 54-14 record in four years at the school, including two region titles and the aforementioned state crown. The boys basketball team also won the title of 5A state champions in the 2006-2007 school year.[citation needed]

The team has made it to the 4A semi-finals three times and played for the state championship 2 of those times in their short 9 year history.[citation needed] Lone Peak Football has produced players such as the likes of Paul Walkenhorst (BYU), C.J. Students
Lone Peak High School has almost 2000 students, and has the biggest sophomore class in its region[citation needed].
Fine Arts
The fine arts department at Lone Peak is diverse. The drama department produces two musicals and several plays each year and has a competitive Shakespeare team. Lone Peak also has a very large choir program; with one choir numbering in the 200s, all headed by Lois Johnson. It features other programs in the fine arts such as ballroom dance, speech, debate, and various visual art and sculpture programs.
There have been 5 directors of the band program in the ten years the school has been open.
In its ten years the symphonic band has consistently qualified for performance at the State festival[citation needed]. The jazz band has also consistently qualified for state, and placed in the top 3 under the direction of Mr. Faires.
The marching band also has an award winning colorguard that competes on the winter circuit, having earned first place in the state on past occasions.[citation needed] The band claimed first place in the Trubaco Hills Competition in Southern California in 2006.
The Lone Peak Winter Drumline is the reigning champion in its division. There are seven winter drumlines in the state, two in the same class as Lone Peak. They have been awarded first place at every in-state competition that have chosen to attend[citation needed] and have been finalists in the SCPA, SJVCGPR, and Hayward Circuits since their first year, 2004. In spring 2006 they placed in the top 20 at WGI World Championships. The Drumline's director was Andy Garcia.
During the 2006 State Orchestra Festival, the Lone Peak Orchestra, scored two I+'s and a I, the top score in 5A. Every year since its formation, the orchestra has between 10-20 performers score superiors at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival[citation needed]. A chamber orchestra has been formed for the 2006-2007 school year, which features several nationally-recognized[citation needed] youth string players.
Academics
Over 100 students get a 4.0 GPA each term, with about 250 making the honor roll of 3.7-3.95. Lone Peak offers several Honor and AP classes throughout the year as well as several off-campus classes at several different colleges such as BYU, University of Utah, UVSC, and several business and technical colleges.
Academic Decathlon
Every year Lone Peak High School gathers together nine students, three from each GPA category of <3.0, 3.0-3.4, and 3.5-4.0, who then train for several weeks to gain knowledge sufficient to compete in the Academic Decathlon (AcaDec, for short) competition. Because Lone Peak is the only High School in its region that participates in the contest the team doesn't have to compete in Regional Tournaments, but moves straight on to State.
The AcaDec team for 2006-2007 came in third in the Large-School division of the competition.
