Geneva High School, or GHS, is a public high school located in Geneva, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Geneva Community Unit School District 304.

History

Geneva High School first opened in 1919.

Academics

In 2005, Geneva had an average composite ACT score of 22.6, and graduated 93.3% of its senior class. The average class size is 19. Geneva has made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievement Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act.[1]

Athletics

Geneva competes in the Western Sun Conference and Illinois High School Association. Its mascot is the Viking. Geneva's rival is their neighbor to the south, Batavia Bulldogs.

On October 19, 2007, the Geneva Vikings defeated the Batavia Bulldogs 14-12 to finish the normal season undefeated at 9-0.

Clubs/Activies

Geneva High School offers a wide variety of clubs and activities for the students to join. These activities include:

-Theater: Students act in school performances
-Choir: Students learn of music and perform at various times in the year
-Band: Students play musical instruments and perform at various times in the year
-Tech Crew: Students control the light and sound aspects of the theater, as well as design sets for plays
-Culinary: Students cook, bake, and sell their goods to other students in the "Culinary Corner"
-Self-Defense Club: A new club, where students meet and practice self-defense
-French Club: A club were students get a taste of the French culture
-Viking View: The student newspaper where students get to write articles for the student body


-Viking Pals: A club that helps other students who have mental disibalities.
